Embracing Our Worth: A Journey of Self-Value in Business

One of the most challenging yet transformative lessons we learn is understanding and valuing our worth. It's a journey filled with humility, self-reflection, and ultimately, empowerment as we come to recognise the true value of our time, expertise, and contributions.

If there's one aspect of my own journey that I've grappled with, it was the issue of pricing and charging my worth at one stage. In the early stages, despite having achieved international recognition, built extensive networks, and garnered significant publicity, I found myself struggling to accurately assess the value of my services.

Perhaps you can relate. How many times have we, in our eagerness to secure clients or help others, undervalued our worth and discounted our prices just to close a deal? It's a common pitfall—one that I, too, fell into.

I vividly recall one instance where I charged a client what I thought was a fair price, only to later discover that someone who had attended my events and was in themselves learning from me and my expertise had then taken on my client and charged significantly more for their services. It was a sobering wake-up call that forced me to confront the reality that I had been undervaluing myself all along.

But herein lies the lesson: humility in acknowledging our shortcomings and the willingness to learn and grow from them. That experience served as a pivotal moment of self-reflection, prompting me to reassess my perception of self-worth and the value I bring to the table.

It's essential to recognise that our worth extends far beyond monetary compensation. It encompasses the years of dedication, expertise, and hard work that we've invested in honing our craft. It's about the impact we have on others, the transformation we facilitate, and the lives we touch through our work.

So, the next time you are tempted to lower your prices or compromise on your worth for the sake of a quick sale or to appear more competitive, I say pause and ask yourselves: Is this truly serving your best interests in the long run? Are you honouring the value you bring to the table?

I've came to realise that if someone doesn't see the value in what I offer, then it's their loss—not mine. I learned to stand firm in my worth, to assertively set my prices based on the value I provide, and to unapologetically advocate for myself in the marketplace.

In the end, it's about recognising and embracing your worth with confidence and conviction. It's about valuing your time, expertise, and contributions, and refusing to settle for anything less than what you deserve.

For me, after all, if I am going to invest my time and energy into helping others succeed with their business, I will do it on my terms—and at a price that reflects my true value.

That isn't arrogance. Thats confidence in your ability.
