Embracing Our Differences (Podcast)
In a world that often divides along lines of race, culture, and background, the gospel calls us to something radically different—unity through Christ. Recently, I had the privilege of discussing this on the Unity in Christ podcast. Our conversation centered on the idea that true Christian harmony isn’t about erasing differences but embracing them as part of God’s beautiful design.
Scripture affirms this truth. In Colossians 3:11, Paul reminds us that “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” Similarly, Galatians 3:28 declares, “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” These verses don’t suggest that our distinctions disappear; rather, they no longer divide us. Instead of uniformity, God calls us to unity—a cohesiveness that flourishes when we recognize the value in our God-given differences.
The Church should be a place where every culture, background, and perspective is welcomed and honored, because each reflects an aspect of God’s image. Unity isn’t about sameness but about honor—honoring and celebrating diversity as part of God’s grand, redemptive plan. May we live out this calling by embracing one another fully, just as Christ embraces us.
