Embracing the New Standard of Care for Myopia Management
Treehouse Eyes
Treehouse Eyes is a pediatric specialty eye care business focused on treating myopia (nearsightedness) in children.
In 2021, the World Council of Optometry believes that managing myopia is the new standard of care. Well said WCO! We agree at Treehouse Eyes that we have a professional obligation to treat the disease of myopia rather than just the symptom of blurred-distance vision. WCO recommends mitigating myopia with lifestyle recommendations and regular checkups to prevent or delay the onset of myopia. They recommend measuring with refractive and axial length when possible. And lastly, to manage myopia with evidence-based interventions such as contact lenses and pharmaceutical approaches. At Treehouse Eyes, we are happy to see more and more organizations joining the fight against the disease of myopia.
