Embracing Motherhood with Technology: Srihitha's Empowering Story

Today, we share with you the inspiring story of Srihitha Reddy , our HR manager at DX FutureTech . Her story of how tech helped navigate through first-time motherhood without compromising on her career is truly inspiring.

The saying goes that a woman is born twice: first as a daughter, then as a mother. I truly understood this when I became a mother in 2020, welcoming a beautiful princess into my life. From that moment, my world transformed in the most beautiful way unimaginable. So, when asked to share how technology influenced my personal life, I couldn't think of a better example than reflecting on how it was a huge support during my motherhood journey.

My baby was born in 2020, during the peak of the COVID era. Traveling back to India to be with my mother was not an option. But thanks to technology, I never felt away from home. My mom would always be on video call with me sharing valuable tips, keeping a check on my mental and physical health and walking me through the journey of motherhood. My family and our family priest joined via video call and were part of our daughter’s naming ceremony, making it possible for them to be part of the special occasion. Thanks to technology, I felt their warmth and closeness despite the distance.

As a first-time mom, I was going through many changes which created countless questions in my mind. Dealing with those anxieties all by myself could take a toll on my mental health. This is when tech came in handy and connected me to the virtual mom community group. Through social media platforms, I could connect to multiple mom communities where most of them were going through similar situations or had a similar experience in the recent past. These virtual friendships became a lifeline, helping me navigate unfamiliar paths.

We've formed strong bonds, sharing everything from our children's photos to discussing their diets. These relationships, which began during my pregnancy, remain strong even today. I make it a point to be active in these groups and share my experience with new members of the group.

Post childbirth, I did have the leverage to stay with my baby for some time and take care of all her needs. Then came the time to return to work, which brought new challenges. Though for the initial few days both my husband and I had the leverage to work from home but soon we had to get back to working from the office. This again brought a pool of challenges in front of us. Again, technology came to our rescue with advanced CCTV systems. Now we could keep an eye on her while at work, which was a huge relief for both of us.

Technology also played a key role in choosing the best for my child. I can buy the best clothes, toys, and books for her from around?the world. With the facilities of online shopping, there is no limitation of choice when it comes to shopping for my little one.

Finally, technology has allowed me to?capture every moment of my child’s life; her first day in this world, her first step, her first spoken words, and many more. Thanks to technology, these memories are preserved for life, and I can revisit them whenever I want to.

This experience has made me realize how deeply technology is woven into our everyday lives and instrumental in making my journey to motherhood a smooth and enjoyable even when I was far away from my family and friends.
