Embracing a hydrogen-powered future with GE Vernova’s aeroderivative gas turbines
As the global demand for decarbonization rises, hydrogen is proving to be a powerful force in the transition to clean energy. At GE Vernova , we’re advancing this shift by equipping our aeroderivative gas turbines with hydrogen-burning capabilities, empowering utilities, Municipalities, and Cooperatives to reduce emissions without sacrificing reliability.
Our LM6000VELOX gas turbine is a true game-changer—capable of running on 100% hydrogen that produces zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions when operating. This modular turbine also helps to reduce installation time, has a fast startup capability and represents an ideal solution for utilities looking to complement their renewable generation.
One example of a decarbonizing peaking asset is the Whyalla Hydrogen power facility in South Australia. It is expected to be one of the world’s largest green hydrogen power plants, the facility will use four GE Vernova LM6000VELOX aeroderivative gas turbine packages to convert green hydrogen into electricity in the region.
