Embracing Growth: My Journey with the YES Program at John Thompson a division of ACTOM

My experience as a Yes Learner Human Resources describes my personality, I am a people person and I came in an environment where there was comfort and support which made it easier for me to learn, express myself and to develop self-confidence. My experience in Human Resources has been enjoyable and has motivated me to develop in this field. During the past year, I have learnt quite a lot of things in the HR environment, interacting with people, the importance of communication, interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and the support that I got from my team was amazing. ?With all the sessions I enjoyed and learnt that it is important to attend, participate and ask in if something is not clear. Helped me to expand my knowledge and have a better understanding of Project Management as a whole. We had lecturers who supported us throughout the course, made sure that we submitted our assessments on time and we had an Industrial Psychologist, the sessions with her were quite enjoyable because I discovered a lot of things about myself that I didn’t know. Every first Thursday of the month, we had catch-up meetings with senior consultants to see where we are at with our assessments the challenges that we are facing at work and how we are managing them. She would advise and would encourage us to do better. Yes, program consultants would call us every month to check up on us if we are still happy and receiving the stipend on a monthly basis. We had a very great support system, I must say. I really appreciate the opportunity.
