Embracing Growth: Lessons Learned from my First Year at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

As I celebrate my first year at 摩根大通 as a Product Manager in the Customer Acquisitions Marketing Platform Team, I wanted to share my gratitude and takeaways. It has been an enriching and truly transformative year, and I look forward to many more experiences as such. Here are my top three reflections and key accomplishments from this past year:?
Success always comes to those who listen
?
Within the two months of my journey at Chase, I participated in the Silicon Valley Product Group training led by Christian Idiodi based off the book “Inspired: How to Create Tech Product Customer Love” by Marty Cagan . It was a 2-day workshop learning how to collaborate cross-functionally to solve customer problems. Hence, I was quickly exposed to the art of active listening to the customer needs and a fervent dedication to solving customer problems
As the product manager for customer product shopping on the Chase mobile application, I was assigned to personalize the customers’ acquisition journeys showing the products that Chase offers. I worked closely with my design and research teams to immerse in the customer experience, seeking feedback and identifying pain points. This process demanded not only technical prowess but also a genuine passion for creating solutions that resonate with the user. Through active listening and an open mindset, we pinpointed areas for improvement and implemented changes that significantly enhanced the product's usability and functionality.
?
With the keen understanding of the needs and problems, we were able to enhance our product including innovative improvements with the content, page layout, and personalization to the customers. With each innovative idea, we gathered more feedback to make it easier for the customers to find the products right for their financial needs in the mobile app.
?
The crucial takeaway from this experience is that true success is born out of an unwavering commitment to solving real-world problems. By being attuned to customer feedback and passionately addressing their concerns, one not only enhances the functionality of a product but also forges a lasting connection between the user and the brand.
Key accomplishment: Conducted 12 product experience experiments for millions of customers that shop for our products within the app, delivering nearly 100K incremental annual accounts across consumer businesses.

You can go farther together than alone
?
Building partnerships, friendships, and trust is the cornerstone of professional growth and success. In the interconnected world of finance, collaboration is not just a buzzword; it is a fundamental principle that propels individuals and organizations forward. My experience at Chase emphasized the significance of cultivating strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
Being co-located with my technical development team and having many in-person interactions with my stakeholders/partners has made a massive impact in how we synergize and build upon ideas. I am also grateful to have a few key individuals across multiple organizations at Chase mentor me throughout my first year and beyond, teaching me valuable lessons about building my brand, building a networking plan, and having a strong executive presence. I am looking forward to challenging myself at every step of my journey and cultivating learnings into values.
?
Navigating the complexities of the firm requires a network of trusted individuals who bring diverse perspectives to the table. Building partnerships is not just about transactional exchanges; it is about fostering genuine connections based on trust, reliability, and shared goals. Collaborating with others, whether within the organization or forging external partnerships, enhances innovation and paves the way for collective success.

There is more beyond the screen
?
Beyond the day job lies a realm of opportunities to be the culture carrier within an organization. As I started exploring Business Resource Groups at Chase, I quickly realized that being an active participant in extra events is not just a professional choice but a responsibility. It's about embodying the values of the organization and contributing to a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture.
Volunteering time for community service, mentoring aspiring talents, and building camaraderie by actively participating in initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion became an integral part of my journey. Towards the year’s end, I participated in over 33 events, some of which included the JPMC Corporate Challenge 5K, Innovation Week, and Women’s Leadership Day. These experiences allowed me to transcend the boundaries of my role and contribute to a culture that goes beyond the conventional definitions of success.
?
In the ever-evolving landscape of the corporate world, being a culture carrier is a strategic move. It is not just about individual accomplishments but about fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. This lesson has ingrained in me the understanding that success extends beyond individual achievements; it is about the collective accomplishments that contribute to a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Key accomplishment: Hosted the first annual 2-day JPMC Product Conference with over 2250 registrants and 16 locations globally.
?
In conclusion, my year at JP Morgan Chase has been a transformative expedition, marked by these invaluable lessons. Through active listening, collaborative efforts, and cultural participation, I have not only honed my professional skills but also embraced a holistic approach to success—one that resonates with customers, contributes to a vibrant workplace culture, and recognizes the power of collaboration in navigating the corporate seas.
My heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey so far, and I am looking forward to learning and growing together even more!
