Embracing God’s Calling Amid Tragedy and Caretaking

Saying “Yes” to God

Sometimes it’s overwhelming when we think about all the hurting people in the world—especially when they are close to you. Thankfully, God only calls us to meet specific needs and wants us to seek His guidance through prayer to determine which needs to address.

In this episode of Relentless Hope, Kadi Cole empowers you to confidently say “no” to some needs, freeing you to say “yes” to God’s calling. Let’s learn how she discovered this.

Words of Hope:

“What you don’t do determines what you can do.” -- Tim Ferriss

LIFE

In part 1 of this 3-part series, Kadi Cole shares that she discovered God only wants us to say ‘yes’ to the specific needs He calls us to meet after becoming a full-time caretaker for her husband while working as an executive director. God invites us to give ourselves a break and to rest physically and spiritually. And we do that by learning from Him how to be humble and gentle, letting go of trying to be everything to everyone, and knowing his voice so clearly that we can easily discern the work He’s called us to.

LEADERSHIP

In part 2, Kadi Cole stresses the importance of self-leadership as the foundation for decisions and impact. She suggests regularly checking our spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, and social interactions and reclaiming any of those we’ve let go of. Kadi reveals her difficult decision to leave her leadership role in ministry due to her husband’s chronic health issues and feels called by God to rest. By surrendering to God’s leadership, we can use our gifts to change lives and fulfill His purpose.

LEGACY

In part 3, Kadi highlights the significance of positively impacting people’s lives. She discusses three types of legacies: general, individual, and familial. General legacies are the big and small impacts we make in our everyday lives, individual legacies are our unique callings from God, and familial legacies are our influence on friends and family.

Kadi teaches that legacies aren’t hindered when your dreams don’t come to fruition—it means God has a different plan for you. What you may think is holding you back could be positioning us for your greatest impact.

Scripture to reflect on:?

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”?

- Matthew 11:28

Closing prayer for Kadi Cole’s story:

Dear Lord, I trust You have a radiant path for me. And I know that along the way, You guide me to the people whom I can serve and who can help me. Please illuminate my next step…the next decision I must make so my choice aligns with Your will and plan. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
