Embracing the Gig Economy & Temporary Work – November 2024

Hiring rebounded in November 2024, following the 36,000 revised job total seen in October 2024. Employers continued to engage with temporary workers last month, as seen in the employment increase for that sector. A November Hiring Increase

The labor market gained 227,000 jobs in November 2024, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This is a 14% increase compared to the same month in 2023.

The BLS also reported an increase in the unemployment rate to 4.2%. The industries with the highest monthly hires included health care, leisure and hospitality, government and social assistance. Additionally, the temporary help services sector gained 1,600 jobs.

Employers continued to fill openings for temporary jobs in November 2024, including seasonal hiring. Rose International saw the most demand for skilled workers in the business professional, IT and admin/clerical categories.
