As data center industry leaders, it's essential to lead by example and work together to realize common goals. This includes preparing for the transition to liquid cooling and promoting sustainability across the sector.

By collaborating and sharing expertise, we can make a significant impact on the industry as a whole and drive it toward a more sustainable future.

Here are some steps you can take to support this transition and demonstrate your leadership in the industry:

  • Prepare your facility for liquid cooling in the white space, recognizing that it allows greater flexibility and accelerated growth. Consider evaluating your current infrastructure and identifying areas where liquid cooling can be integrated or retrofitted to improve efficiency.
  • Support the and engage with the broader OCP community, participating in engineering workshops, workstream calls, project calls, and webinars to educate your teams. This will help you stay up-to-date with the latest developments and technologies in immersion cooling.
  • Support assessments of the value of liquid cooling for your customers and the benefits for your facilities. Encourage your teams to explore how immersion cooling can address specific challenges related to energy efficiency, water usage, and equipment performance.
  • Develop a liquid cooling roadmap with your teams, ensuring a smooth transition. Establish clear goals, timelines, and milestones to guide your organization through the process of adopting and implementing liquid cooling technologies.
  • Engage with your ecosystem, including IT suppliers, energy providers, customers, and local governments, to discuss the value-add of liquid cooling and potential policy changes. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, you can help shape the future of the industry and support the adoption of more sustainable practices.
  • Share your knowledge, expertise, and questions in the OCP communities, contributing to the global collaboration and benefiting from the combined experience of fellow industry experts. This has been a great series of posts. Some really good advice here, on that I really like is to take the time to create a liquid cooling roadmap. Again and again I see the look of panic in people's eyes when they learn there's an upcoming high power density server/app and they're actually going to have to support liquid heat transfer in their DC now. We are really at the beginning stages of solving for high heat density transfer. It's also evolving and moving from the DC towards the edges. It's going to take everyone working together to create a sensible path forward
