Dear Readers,
I hope this edition of "Purpose with Myriem" finds you well and inspired on your purposeful journey. Today, I'd like to share a personal story about the immense flexibility and freedom that comes with being a purposeful entrepreneur.
As many of you know, life is full of unexpected twists and turns. Just today, my husband fell unwell, and with school holidays in full swing, my son needed extra care and attention. In my previous corporate life, navigating such unforeseen challenges was often an uphill battle. The stress of seeking permission to leave or cancelling important meetings often left me feeling guilty and overwhelmed.
However, as a purposeful entrepreneur, I've come to recognise the true essence of flexibility. My priorities are crystal clear, and I don't apologise for putting family first. Today, I had to cancel a lunch catch-up with one of my dearest friends at the last minute to be with my husband, and I'm confident that she understands and supports my decision wholeheartedly.
Achieving genuine freedom in the corporate world can be quite challenging. Many opt to trade this freedom for the illusion of job security. However, it's crucial to understand that when you place your faith in the hands of others, you surrender a significant degree of control. For instance, there's no assurance that your job will remain indefinitely available or that your professional growth will continue uninterrupted.
When it comes to personal growth, the rigid structure of the corporate world often doesn't afford us the time to explore our purpose. I vividly remember my days as a finance director, where my schedule left little room for anything beyond work. It wasn't until I made the choice to take a career break that I could truly begin my quest for purpose, leading to a transformative journey towards fulfilment, success, and financial freedom.
So, at its core, flexibility is not merely about adapting to changing circumstances; it's about having the precious time and space to contemplate, strategize, and take meaningful action toward what truly matters to you.

Now, I don't advise quitting your 9 to 5 job. Instead, I suggest making time to explore your purpose. This can be done through a career break, a short sabbatical, or even dedicating a few minutes each day to focus on your personal growth.
I wholeheartedly believe that embracing your purpose often leads to a more fulfilling life. To quote the renowned Tony Robbins , "Success without fulfilment is the ultimate failure." Brené Brown Brown echoes this sentiment with her wisdom: "You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging." And let's not forget Simon Sinek, who reminds us, "People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it."
Discovering my purpose marked the start of a journey toward fulfilment, success, and financial freedom that I couldn't have imagined in my corporate days. Trust me; I've been there!
So, my dear readers, whether you're an entrepreneur, a corporate professional, or somewhere in between, remember that your purpose is your guiding light. Embrace flexibility, nurture your dreams, and seek your purpose—because it's the key to unlocking a life filled with meaning and happiness.
