Embracing the Essence of Christmas: Jesus was born to save us

Hello Friends and Family!

Charlie and Kathy here, wishing you all a blessed Christmas season. We’re reminded of why we celebrate Christmas as we gather with our loved ones—our children Julia, Lisa, David, and Nick, their families, and our six wonderful grandchildren.

Jesus was born to save us. He left all he had as God and came to earth. It was the beginning of his Father’s plan for reconciliation. My favorite Christmas hymn, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, summarizes His plan. It reads, “God and sinners reconciled.” And to think it all started with Jesus being born today. I cry every time I hear it.

He walked in our shoes.

He lived as we live.

He experienced all we experience.

He entered this world just as we did.

He went through every stage of life and all it has to offer, including the joy and the suffering.

He was born to save us from this life.

He was born to give us a new life.

This is the essence of Christmas.

God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son so that whoever would believe in him would not perish but have eternal life. He did not come to judge the world but to save it.

At forty years old, I believed in Jesus. At that moment, my sins were forgiven. The old me was gone, and the new me began. This was my second chance at being the man, husband, Father, and businessman God created me to be. He saved me. I was now his. He is my God. I began to follow Him.

I am amazed at what God did. His plan of reconciliation healed all the relationships in my life. I look at this picture of our family and see the fruit of his love for us.

Today, we celebrate, “Jesus was born to save us.”

His love is amazing. His plan is perfect. God and sinners reconciled.

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” Matthew 1:23 NLT

Today, we celebrate the beginning of God with us.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.
