Embracing Discomfort for a Better Tomorrow
Got Time? Build!
Weekends and downtimes are great.
They’re an opportunity to build something—literally.
For me, that’s been in my yard.
I’m no pro at construction, but I’ve taught myself concrete work and basic building to take on a backyard project.
A Sense of Accomplishment
Could I have hired someone?
Sure! But everything has a price.
I could have paid for convenience or stayed comfortable by skipping the heavy lifting.
But here’s the trade-off: Paying someone else is a lot more expensive, and avoiding the work doesn’t get me the same sense of accomplishment or growth.
Plus, the trade-off is awesome!
New skills acquired, a stronger body (and mind) and a new space that’s 100% built with our own hands.
Embrace Small Sacrifices for Big Gains
What discomfort could you take on now that would create more comfort in the future?
Whether it’s building something new, trying a skill you’re not perfect at, or tackling a project with “sweat equity”, the small sacrifices pay off over time.
“Growth happens when we lean into the work.”
So, what will you build this weekend?
Rooting for you,
Vaughan
