Embracing Creativity to Get Unstuck

Embracing Creativity to Get Unstuck

Hello Coaching Uprising Community!

November always seems to bring with it a unique energy—a deep invitation to reflect, recharge, and maybe even get a little introspective as the year begins winding down. It’s a time when many of us naturally slow down just enough to notice where we might be feeling stuck and what new possibilities we’d love to welcome.

In that spirit, I’d like to share a theme I see so often in my work with clients: the feeling of being “stuck.” It’s that nagging sensation that something in our lives has become stagnant, whether it’s a professional role, a creative pursuit, or a personal goal. If you’re feeling any of this lately, know that you’re not alone. Feeling stuck is completely normal—and it’s often a sign that growth is just around the corner. So let’s explore how this shows up and, most importantly, how we can start to break free from it.

Understanding Stuckness

The feeling of “stuckness” can look different for everyone. For some, it’s a sense of being trapped in a job or role that once brought fulfillment but now just feels flat. For others, it’s patterns in relationships that never seem to change, health struggles that feel overwhelming, or dreams that feel out of reach. Stuckness is frustrating, draining, and often leaves us with that uncomfortable “where to from here?” feeling.

In my work, I find that this sense of stuckness usually points us to something important—a part of us that’s ready for change but just doesn’t know how to start. It’s like a roadblock that, with the right perspective, can open into a whole new path.

My Own Moments of Feeling Stuck

I’ve had my own times of being deeply, frustratingly stuck. In fact, each chapter of my life has brought its own version of it, and every time, it’s taught me something new. Here are a few:

  • Moving to a New Country: When I moved abroad, I found it nearly impossible to audition as often as I’d hoped. It left me feeling disconnected and unsure of how to pursue what I loved. This taught me the value of adaptability and creative problem-solving when life throws a curveball.
  • Hitting a Plateau in Leadership: During one of my senior roles, I lost a beloved mentor who’d been my guide. I felt lost and isolated without their support, and it challenged me to discover self-leadership. This was a big step in learning to find strength and direction from within.
  • Struggles with Fertility: For years, my journey to conceive felt overwhelming. At times, it seemed like all I could do was go through the motions in a medical?system that didn’t provide answers. This struggle reminded me of the importance of trust and resilience, even when there’s no clear roadmap.
  • Relationship Challenges: Like many, I’ve gone through periods in my marriage where we seemed to be at an impasse. Learning to approach these times with openness and creativity has deepened our connection and brought us closer than before.
  • Business Stagnation: When my work felt like it was stuck, I knew I needed a fresh perspective. I was ready to try new ways of connecting and creating that felt truer to my own purpose and style.

Each of these moments taught me that stuckness isn’t permanent—it’s an invitation. Every time I embraced it, I found new strength, direction, and a deeper understanding of myself. This journey has shown me the value of creative problem-solving, resilience, and a willingness to look at the “problem” from different angles.

The Power of Creative Coaching

Over time, I’ve developed a unique approach to coaching that blends the creative process with psychological and organizational insight. While many leaders want quick solutions, I’ve learned that true, lasting change often requires us to dig deeper—to focus on the whole person, not just the problem.

Through a person-centered approach, I guide clients to explore the root causes of their stuckness, uncovering solutions that feel right for them. This is where creativity plays a crucial role. The creative process helps people unlock perspectives, reveal unexpected insights, and bring a fresh energy to old challenges.

Creativity as the Key to Transformation

One of the most powerful ways to get unstuck is by engaging with creativity. When we tap into our creative side, we open ourselves to new ways of thinking, allowing us to see opportunities where we once only saw limitations. Creativity lets us break free from habits, approach relationships with fresh eyes, and lead in ways that truly resonate with today’s fast-changing world.

Creativity isn’t just for artists or writers—it’s a tool anyone can use to bring fresh solutions to the table. And in a world that’s constantly evolving, this ability to think creatively is essential for staying adaptable, innovative, and connected.
