Embracing Courage: Healing the Inner Child for a Fulfilling Life
Being brave or courageous is a decision - and one that needs to be embraced without shame.
Recently, people have said I am resilient, brave, calm, and happy. Yet, previously, I would have said I lacked bravery. I wasn't calm, let alone happy. Although I agree with resilience, I have been through enough knocks to know I can get up and keep going.
Why embrace courage, especially without shame? Courage is a conscious choice to face fear, adversity, or uncertainty. Doing so without shame acknowledges that fear is a natural part of ourselves. Choosing to act despite your fear is powerful.
Yet, how often do we allow our fears to prevent us from following our hearts and dreams or bringing our wishes into being?
Courage can manifest in various forms, including:
? Standing up for what's right: Advocating for justice, equality, and fairness, even when difficult or unpopular.
? Dealing with adversity: Facing challenges, setbacks, and hardships with resilience and determination.
? Pursuing a challenging goal: Striving towards ambitious objectives despite obstacles and the possibility of failure.
? Being true to oneself: Honoring one's values, beliefs, and identity, even in the face of societal pressures or expectations.
Courage involves making a conscious decision to act with integrity and bravery, ultimately contributing to personal growth and positive change in the world.
Embracing Your Inner Child
But for me, courage also means embracing your inner child—the child who has been hurt and needs to be loved just as much as you, the adult, does.
Your inner child deserves to be heard by you and others if necessary so that it knows it has done nothing wrong and that there is no reason for it to feel guilt or blame. But more than anything, it needs to feel your love.
As children, we can feel guilty and responsible for the actions of adults. Sounds strange, doesn't it? How can we as children be responsible? We have no control over our lives, and we rely on adults to be able to live.
Rest assured, it is customary to seek the approval and love of our loved ones. Even when the sad reality is that we are disappointed and feel we have done something wrong, if that approval or love is absent, we continue to look for love and acceptance.
The feelings and stories we create are the drivers we live by as adults, little realising the harm we do to ourselves and our lives.
Our Decisions Are Based On Our Childhood Experiences
Shocking, isn't it? To think that we make decisions based on the evidence we had as children. We even say we were happy as children and that life was good. However, when you go deeper, there are times when we are ignored and spoken to negatively or in an environment where the atmosphere is tense, which can be what causes us to live with a distorted view of ourselves and our lives.
I would have said my childhood was good, but then I now know of the undercurrents that were playing out, which I wasn't consciously aware of.??
We also assume a lot based on our view of the world. Going to Egypt on my own was considered brave by some as I relied on a tour guide and his friends to explore Egypt.
Yet, I never considered myself brave. I wanted to do it and knew I would be safe doing so. But that was because I love my inner child and no longer need to seek approval for my actions.
The Benefits Of Being Courageous
Facing our childhood experiences, stories, and subsequent beliefs takes courage. Yet, the benefits of doing so go way beyond your imagination.
Even when you have family responsibilities, it doesn't mean you can't work on yourself to improve your life and that of your family.
In being courageous and reviewing your life stories - the driving forces behind your happiness, abundance and wealth, fun and laughter, and your well-being will be revealed, to be reviewed and updated.
Leading to a more positive lifestyle, clients report improved relationships, more financial stability, being happier, calmer, and more attuned to their true selves, and find that they are creating connections to build a future filled with more free time, happiness, laughter, and rewards.
Are you courageous? Do you need to meet your inner child to remember how courageous you are? ?
