Embracing the competition. Could this be your marketing breakthrough?

As a lifetime marketer, I can clearly recall the years when the idea of competition put a tremendous fear within me. Most of us, with age, learn that fear is a block – regardless of what part of life you are talking about. The block I was experiencing was to look away…instead of learning from what they were doing and experiencing them, I would ignore them.

Once I took my love of marketing out of corporate and into the agency setting; I truly began to take time to learn and to embrace the competitive learning for our agency and for our clients. I love seeing the digital presence of other agencies, regardless of size. Their creativity spurs me on. I think of them in the way this article suggests, “Competition is not only good for your business, it’s good for consumers. When there is competition amongst brands, consumers get the opportunity to choose on which business they can spend their time, money and attention.”

I also began to realize as I worked with our clients, that much like dating and finding a significant other, not everyone wants to dance with the same partner. That is a tremendous relief. I am sure you could find someone with similar looks and interests as your significant other – but they would still NOT be them.

In that same way, you can take two clients with similar products, and leadership with the same levels of enthusiasm; and people will be drawn to one or the other for a variety of reasons. If you have the belief that your energy, message, service and passion can draw in the right people – then you are going to succeed.

As INC. reiterates, “Right now there's an energy field or aura around you that others can feel.”

And your competition also gives off an energy field. The idea that you have to wish others failure to succeed is outdated. The real magic that we now understand is getting your high energy out there in a way that attracts the right clients to connect with you. When you spend your time ignoring or wishing ill will on your competition, you are truly wasting your time and energy.

When I learned to look, learn, and love my competition; and to find the differentials that our agency provides, that I am passionate about, and to give THAT message out in my external marketing AND in my energy marketing, the results followed. As you’ll hear in The Unexpected Secret to Success; look for synchronicities and trust in life…and you may just be surprised at what happens.

The truth is that, you can then put that energy into your messaging and strategy and you will see your business grow. Embracing the competition is a #finething.
