Embracing Cloud Infra

Embracing Cloud Infra

There were days when one of the biggest headache of tech teams was to manage servers, DB load and managing scalability. The biggest task in big data processing was setting up the infra. Half of the efforts were going into spinning of VMs, DB memory management or we had big dedicated dev ops teams who were doing all that.

I was reading a news in the morning today that few colleges have introduced AWS cloud computing in their engineering curriculum. I think its a great start. Application deployment is not just running servers and DBs anymore. It is becoming more and more sophisticated with clouds where one has to think how to use managed services, serverless computing, auto-scalability and processing events/requests in much more logical and distributed manner.

Definitely AWS is leading the pack and Google Cloud, Azure, Oracle everybody is catching up fast. More and more managed services are coming up so that the developers focus all the time and energy in writing logic rather than managing services. Big Data processing has also changed along the way. One can set up whole big data computing by just few clicks and one thing to worry about is the business problem to solve.

I believe that more and more institutions will start introspecting within and would make their courses and curriculum more related to real world applications rather than still going old school and pick up some outdated programming language to teach. Today, we are seeing the old institutions like banks are also changing their outlook towards embracing cloud infra and coming out of on-premise DC thought process. We should see in near future, students coming out of college with deep understanding of building highly scalable applications using full potentials of cloud and their connected and managed services.

It's a happy change !!

Lovely article on embracing cloud, would love to hear your thoughts on a private cloud with all the features of a public cloud - simplicity, agility, capacity burst, pay as you grow and plus of added security, added design features and cost benefits! #hpe #greenlake #everythingasaservice
