In my role as an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure evangelist, I talk to a lot of customers about the challenges their organizations face and how the move to the cloud can help them. They still have apprehensions, however, around security and compliance, predictive pricing, openness, agility, and change management. Some of the questions I frequently hear are:
- Will my (and my customers’) data be safe in the cloud?
- How do I ensure that unexpected charges will not show up in my billing statements once I move my workloads?
- Does Oracle Cloud Infrastructure support open source software? Will I be able to run my technology stack on other clouds or on premises?
- Is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure only for large enterprises and businesses that use Oracle databases and applications? Can Oracle Cloud Infrastructure support workloads for cloud native applications?
- What kind of support will I get from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure team?
- How do I prepare my team, stakeholders, and customers for the change?
Customers want to learn from others who have moved to Oracle's cloud successfully -- what challenges they faced, how they navigated those, and what best practices to follow so their move to cloud is as seamless as possible. This week, Nickoria Johnson shares learnings and best practices. Read how her team at Alliance Data Systems planned and migrated to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resulting in over $1 million-dollar savings per year.
In my next few blog posts, I will invite some Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers to share their stories, lessons learned, and best practices. I hope you enjoy the series and get an opportunity to learn from their experiences. If you would like to share your feedback and have questions pertaining the move to the cloud, please email me!
