Since Industrialization, the wheel of production is driven by two directions – Linear Economy and Circular Economy.
The linear economy model traditionally follows a take-make-waste plan. Raw materials are extracted or mined, processed into products, and used until they are discarded as waste. this system creates value by manufacturing and selling as many products as possible. This scheme resembles a flat line of the production process, also known as ‘open cycle’, results in dire consequences for our biosphere. Linear economies exhaust our valuable resources and energy, resulting in CO2 emissions. A considerable amount of input raw materials are non-renewable, posing a serious environmental concern and threat because these items are either detonated or burned.
Circular Economy is not a new buzzword in the world of recycling and sustainable waste management, but it comes as an environment-friendly alternative to linear economy model. This system of manufacturing aims to keep products, components, and materials in use for longer, and reuse them, so we get more?value?(usefulness, or productivity) from them.?Waste does not exist and products as well as raw materials are intended to be reused for as long as possible. In a nutshell, waste is the new raw material for circular economy. Basically, a circular economy follows the 3R strategy – reduce, reuse and recycle. Extraction of raw materials is curtailed (reduce), reutilization of products and their parts is emphasized (reuse) and the products that have reached their end-of-life will be transformed into a new item (recycle). Sustainability is pursued in a circular economy through strengthening the system's eco-effectiveness. This means that not only is the environmental damage minimized, but the ecological, economic, and social impacts are also favorable.

?The government and industry are not the only ones who are responsible for a well-functioning circular economy. Consumers must also play a role: purchasing sustainable products must become the new standard. We all need to act responsibly to create a circular economy by utilizing items for longer periods of time, repairing them, or taking them to certified recycling company like Enviroserve.
