With everything happening in the world right now—from LA fires to the change in government and the ensuing chaos—it feels overwhelming. Sometimes just hearing the word “change” can make you shudder. It can spark a range of emotions like anxiety, sadness, and fear of what’s going to happen next.
In moments like these, it’s even more important to be mindful about how we navigate change not just in our lives but within our organizations as well. While we may not be able to control the larger forces shaping our world, we can choose how we respond and grow through them, and how we lead others. This might sound easier said than done, but shifting our perspective on change can make all the difference.
What if instead of worrying about changes, you think about change as holding the potential for something greater? What if it’s actually the key to unlocking your highest self and that of your business? This mindset shift can transform fear into curiosity and dread into opportunity.
The way I see it, change is essential to growth. Without it, we’re likely to stay “safe” and static. But safety and stagnation aren’t the same as fulfillment. When there is friction, we step up—discomfort shakes things up. Change is both something to endure and something to embrace, a wave to ride toward better days ahead. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary for evolving into the person you’re meant to be.
So how can we navigate change more effectively? Here are some strategies to help you accept change and channel it into greater growth:
1. Get Curious
Curiosity is one of the most powerful tools for navigating change. Instead of resisting what’s happening, ask yourself questions to better understand your situation:
Curiosity shifts your focus from fear to possibility. It opens the door to growth and helps you explore what’s next without judgment or resistance. By staying curious, you create space for new ideas and solutions to emerge. Engaging stakeholders in the process once strategy and direction has been established is key for buy-in.
2. Start Small
Big changes can feel overwhelming, but small steps create momentum. Identify one action you can take today to move forward. Maybe it’s sending an email, having a conversation, or setting aside 15 minutes to brainstorm your next steps. Small, consistent actions compound over time and build your confidence in navigating change.
Remember, progress doesn’t need to be monumental to be meaningful. Even the tiniest step forward is still a step in the right direction.
3. Build a Support System
Change is easier when you’re not navigating it alone. Surround yourself with people who uplift within and outside of your business - whether that’s friends, family, a coach, or a supportive community. Share your journey and let others cheer you on. Sometimes, just knowing you have someone in your corner can make all the difference.
Sharing your experiences can foster a sense of connection and remind you that you’re not alone. And you never know who you might inspire along the way!

4. Embrace Failure
Challenges and setbacks are a natural part of navigating change. Instead of fearing them, view them as opportunities for learning and recalibration. Ask yourself:
Each failure brings you closer to success. It’s not about avoiding mistakes but about how you recover and adapt. With each misstep, you gain valuable insights and metrics that prepare you for future opportunities.
5. Celebrate Your Progress
Every step forward is worth celebrating! Acknowledge your courage, even if the change feels messy or incomplete. Progress, not perfection, is what matters. Take time to recognize your team and organizational wins, no matter how small. Celebrating your progress reinforces positive habits and keeps you motivated to continue.
During Turbulent Times, Community Matters
One thing I keep seeing over and over is how important it is to embrace community. Change can feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. Now might be a great time to:
Community can be a powerful anchor during uncertain times. It reminds us of our shared humanity and provides the support we need to navigate change with resilience and grace.
Embracing the Change You’re Facing
Change isn’t always easy, but being mindful of the change you want to see in the world, and working toward it, is. Every step you take, no matter how small, brings you closer to the life you’re meant to live.
So, what is one step you can take to embrace the change(s) you’re facing right now? It doesn’t have to be a monumental leap. All you need is the courage to begin.
Change is an invitation—an opportunity to grow, learn, and evolve. It’s a process, and it’s okay if it feels messy or uncomfortable. What matters most is that you keep moving forward, one small step at a time.
