What made teams around the world keep their heads above water this past week? Embracing the changing environment.
Retail, Financial services, technology, doctors... you name it and the day to day role each of these roles play changed this past week. As everyone embraced the change & moved to #workfromhome or #workfromanywhere there are so many ways to make this new environment even more productive than the office.
Here are five smart ways to keep your remote team engaged.
- Communicate often, honestly & in an agile way.
- Spend 10 mins a day teaching a new topic -rotate between yourself, a member of your team , teammate from another department, a customer or executives.
- Document common need to know topics is a central place.
- Leverage unified communications technology to allow you to communicate in different ways as different members of your team will enjoy (and learn more) from different communicate vehicles.
- HAVE FUN! People are in their homes with their kids/dogs/cats/personal furniture and it's a great way to bring your team together to bond. Try a virtual team happy hour where everyone brings their dogs/cats or their favorite drink to share with the team or cook dinner/lunch as a team. Make team shirts. Send your team's kids toys to dress them up for calls!
