Embracing Change, the Holy Grail for Leaders to Thrive in Hospitality

Written for ETHospitalityWorld by The Economic Times

This September we are celebrating 'Career Month' at Radisson Hotel Group hence, I felt it is a good time to pen down my thoughts on change management, one of the most critical aspects of everyone's life journey and evolution, including mine.

Change management transcends being a mere strategic buzzword; it is the cornerstone of effective leadership, especially in the ever-evolving hospitality industry. As I reflect on this journey, I’ve come to view change not as a challenge to be managed but as an opportunity to be embraced. ?

Philosophies that guide my leadership

Drawing Inspiration from the Buddhist concept of impermanence, I believe that change is inevitable and constant. This mindset encourages us to remain adaptable and open to new experiences. Leadership is about not just reacting to change but proactively shaping the future, aligning it with our highest values and aspirations. Influential works like @Who Moved My Cheese and "Switch” have reinforced the importance of being aware, prepared, and courageous in the face of change teaching us the art of transformation.

Shared values for collective success

At Radisson Hotel Group , our “Yes I Can!” spirit and the belief that “Anything is Possible” resonates deeply with my leadership philosophy. These values foster a culture of positivity, innovation, and adaptability, crucial for thriving in the hospitality sector. By embedding these values in our team, we create an environment where every member feels empowered to contribute to our collective success. ?

Embracing change in the dynamic hospitality sector

The hospitality industry is uniquely susceptible to changes driven by shifting guest preferences, technological advancements, and global events. To succeed, we must not only adapt but also lead by innovation. Investing in guest relationship management systems and personalized guest experiences are just a few ways we can set our hotels apart in a competitive landscape.

Leading by example

My leadership at Radisson Hotel Group centers on the art of transformation- leading by example and fostering a culture that embraces change. I am committed to ensuring that our team anticipates and responds to the ever-changing demands of the hospitality industry with vision and resilience. Together, we will create a future that aligns with our highest aspirations and sets new benchmarks for excellence. ?

As we embark on this exciting chapter, I am confident that by embracing change with an open heart and mind, we will continue to thrive in positive transformation within the hospitality industry and achieve the five-year plan set by the company. Let us lead with resilience, vision, and innovation, creating a future that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our guests and stakeholders.
