Embracing Change as a Growth Opportunity

Embracing Change as a Growth Opportunity

Lessons from the Rodeo

Life's a funny thing, ain't it? Just when you think you've got it all figured out, it throws you a curveball that'd make even the best rodeo clowns take notice. But here's the thing: those changes that come barreling down the road at us? They're not just bumps to get over - they're chances to grow taller than we ever thought we could. So, let's saddle up and take a look at why embracing change is worth its weight in gold.

?

1. Personal growth: Now, every change we face is like fertile soil for our souls. It's not always pretty - sometimes it's downright nasty - but it's in the mess that we find the good stuff. Maybe it's learning we're tougher than we thought or finding out we've got a knack for something we never even considered before. Each change is like turning over a new patch of ground in our own personal garden, giving us the chance to plant something new and watch it flourish.

?

2. Confidence boost: When we manage to wrangle a big change and come out the other side, well, it's like putting another notch in our belt. We stand a little taller, our chests puff out just a smidge more. It's that feeling of "I did it!" that stays with us, reminding us that we've got what it takes to face whatever comes down the pike. And let me tell you, that kind of confidence? It's catchy. Pretty soon, you'll be tackling changes like a bull rider at the rodeo.

?

3. Sharper problem-solving: Adapting to change is like working out our brain muscles. It pushes us to think in ways we haven't before, to look at things from all angles like we're trying to figure out how to get a stubborn calf into the barn. And the more we do it, the better we get. Before you know it, we're coming up with solutions as slick as a greased pig, thinking outside the box and finding clever fixes we never knew we had in us.

?

4. Better emotional smarts: Now, dealing with change isn't just about the practical stuff - it's an emotional journey too. It teaches us to read our own feelings like a well-worn map, to understand when we're feeling scared, excited, or somewhere in between. And it's not just about us - it helps us tune into what others are going through too. It's like developing a sixth sense for the emotional weather around us, making us better friends, partners, and neighbors.

?

5. Flexibility and endurance fit for a cutting horse: The more we roll with the punches, the more limber we get. At first, change might feel like trying to rope a wild mustang - all buckin’ and fightin’. But the more we practice, the more we learn to move with it instead of against it. Pretty soon, we're as adaptable as a Swiss Army knife, ready for whatever life throws our way. Whether it's a job loss, a move across the country, or just a change in plans for the day, we can take it all in stride.

?

So the next time change comes knocking at your door, don't batten down the hatches. Open that door wide and give it a hearty welcome. It might just be bringin’ you the opportunity to become an even better version of yourself. After all, in the grand rodeo of life, it's not about avoiding the wild rides - it's about doing what you don’t want to do, as if you love it. That’s how real positive change happens.

If we want to see changes in our lives we need to change our thoughts and beliefs. Embrace a growth mindset, don't let a fix mindset hold you back.

If you have been bucked of a horse you will know how painful and even dangerous it is depending on how and where you land … but the key is to always get back in the saddle… as a keen horse rider and owner of an ex race horse I get back in the saddle every time because I am addicted to living my most fun courageous life and I LOVE horse riding so it’s worth it … and you get more confident every time you get back in the saddle that life is not here to beat you but to help you grow into your greatest version Mike Ashabraner
