Embracing Change and Feeling Grateful

Embracing Change and Feeling Grateful

As each year draws to a close, I try to reflect on the good and the not so great, so I can improve on them the following year. It’s now that time. The themes that steal the spotlight this year are definitely Change and Gratitude. Individually these concepts can be everyday norms; together, I am realising, they are powerful.

2024 for me brought much professional change. The most prominent was joining Resolution Life a few months ago, which has ushered in change on multiple dimensions. Part of that has been adjusting to a smaller, more entrepreneurial culture that brings with it a sense of professional intimacy. From the mundane of sometimes wearing jeans and trainers to work as opposed to a suit each day, to the unexpected of having deal calls scheduled swiftly at odd hours of the day, to the discomfort I feel from experiencing many technical topics for the first time, so they were beyond my comprehension, I find myself embracing this change with excitement and adapting to the flexibility and agility that surrounds me.

I am grateful for this opportunity to learn, grow and apply my experience to a new setting. I am likewise grateful to be surrounded by bright and determined people who take pride in the company and its history of bootstrapping, tenacity, and innovation. Purpose also matters, as this drives the willingness to think beyond what’s been done before in order to serve the needs of policyholders.?

This openness to new ideas and willingness to adapt are essential for success in an ever- changing environment and represents one of the core reasons why Resolution Life announced that its largest shareholder plans to acquire 100% of the company. The acquisition will secure Resolution Life’s position as a leader in the multi-trillion-dollar global life and annuity consolidation sector and enable us to continue our growth trajectory and serve the needs of policyholders and the broader life insurance industry. Yet another change and yet another reason to be grateful.?

So, I am approaching 2025 with much anticipation, a sense of optimism, and a belief that exciting times lie ahead. During the remaining days this year, I will try to catch up on sleep and read something non-fiction. For that, and for all of you, I am grateful.
