Embracing Change: ADSSI Prepares for Australia's New Aged Care Act

As we enter a new era of aged care in Australia, ADSSI is proud to stand at the forefront of positive change. The Australian Government's introduction of the new Aged Care Act marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing exceptional care for older Australians.

Benefits for Older Australians and Their Loved Ones

The new Act brings substantial improvements to home care services, directly benefiting the seniors we serve and their families:

  1. Increased Accessibility: With an additional 107,000 home care places, more seniors can access the care they need.
  2. Reduced Wait Times: The government aims to cut wait times to three months by July 2027.
  3. Enhanced Funding: The highest level of home care funding will increase to A$78,000 annually, ensuring more comprehensive support.
  4. Personalised Care: The new Support at Home program introduces eight funding classifications, allowing for more tailored care plans.
  5. Improved Service Categories: Care is now organised into clinical care, independence support, and everyday living assistance, providing a holistic approach to in-home care.

Preparing for Change: What Home Care Providers Need to Know

As we transition to this new system, all home care providers, including ADSSI, are gearing up for significant changes:

  1. New Quality Standards: Starting July 1, 2025, we'll implement more robust aged care quality standards to ensure higher accountability and better care.
  2. Updated Funding Model: We're adapting to the new payment system, which includes full government funding for clinical care services and means-tested contributions for other services.
  3. Flexible Care Plans: We're developing systems to support quarterly budgets and allow clients to allocate funds across service categories.
  4. Staff Training: Our teams are undergoing extensive training to understand and implement the new person-centred approach mandated by the Act.
  5. Technology Updates: We're upgrading our systems to align with the new Support at Home program, which will replace the current Home Care Packages Program on July 1, 2025.

ADSSI: Committed to Seamless Transition

At ADSSI, we're working behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition to the new aged care system. Our dedicated teams are:

  • Conducting comprehensive staff training programs
  • Updating our operational processes to align with the new Act's requirements
  • Enhancing our client communication strategies to keep our clients informed and supported
  • Collaborating with industry partners to share best practices and insights

We're excited about the positive impact these changes will have on the lives of older Australians. Our commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care remains as we navigate this transition.

ADSSI is ready to embrace this new chapter in aged care. We look forward to continuing our mission of supporting older Australians to live their best lives with care at home.
