The Future Of Work (Vol 4.)

As I have readers around the world, I don’t know what the weather is like where you are. In Manchester in the UK it’s winter and apparently we have a snow bomb on the way.?

The mind boggles. Let’s just say the weather is cold and bracing.?

As my father would say. I would just say it’s..

COLD AS F…?
Yes this is what Dalle 3 things I look like - and would look like cold in Manchester - lol.

Generational differences.

But that's the difference in generations and it’s not just how generations use language. It's how we act and think about how we work too.

Which is why its so interesting to thing about age and generational change. Is this future of work revolution coming because of the change in generations? I’m not sure it’s just that. It’s more.

It’s the whole Fifth Industrial revolution thing. Its how not just technology is changing but how it is changing us too.

Could we have the remote work revolution without the technology to help us work from home successfully? Will bosses change enough to accept AI into the workplace as much as many employees want it.?

Are we embracing the change or bracing for it?

As we navigate this brave new world of work, there's a lot to be excited about. From the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the rise of remote working, we're seeing a seismic shift in how we approach productivity and collaboration.?

Let's dive in and explore some of the latest trends shaping our work lives.

AI: The New Copilot for Work

First up, Microsoft is setting a new standard for productivity with their next-generation AI, the Microsoft 365 Copilot . This innovative tool is designed to make work easier and more efficient, proving that AI isn't just the future—it's the present. Thanks to such advancements, we're seeing an increased belief in the productivity potential of AI. According to a 2024 AI statistics report , 43.1% of people believe AI will increase productivity. That's a statistic we can get behind!

AI: Are we using it?

A few weeks ago I did some surveys and polls on social media to see how much AI was really being used by my followers and readers. Thanks everyone that answered. As it is fascinating to see that YES - AI is being used. But considering how clever and forward thinking you all are. Not everyone is using AI every week - about 80% of us are. And shockingly only 5 - 10% of us are using AI everyday on our mobile phones.

But with many of us remote working and working from anywhere.

I am shocked about this.

Believe me - once you use AI on your mobile phone you will be amazed how much it will transform your work flow and speed.??

The Rise of Remote Working

While AI is transforming our work tools, remote working is reshaping our work environments. A recent report suggests that despite skepticism around the productivity of remote work, this mode of working is here to stay.

Employees enjoy the flexibility and freedom that comes with it, and businesses are seeing the benefits too. Something I will be talking about in my book and upcoming talk for #Future24.?

The Return to Office Debate

This old chestnut is in the news again. Often for the wrong reasons. As though remote working is popular. There's an ongoing debate around the 'return to office' movement, with 90% of companies planning to do so by the end of 2024. However, flexibility seems to be the key, with many companies opting for a hybrid model, blending the best of both worlds.

So I think that 90% will be maybe you go into the office once a week, or a month….?

The Future is Flexible

As we look to the future, one thing is clear: flexibility is key. Whether it's flexible scheduling options or the use of AI to automate tasks, the ability to adapt and evolve is vital. Companies that embrace these changes are the ones that will thrive in this new era of work.

GPT Store: A New Chapter in AI

Thinking about being flexible and more productive. In more AI news, OpenAI has launched the GPT Store , a marketplace for personalized AI. This is a significant step forward, offering a platform where AI tools can be tailored to specific needs. It's another example of how AI is becoming an integral part of our work lives.

Remember when Apple launched the iPhone and then iPhone app store. It changed everything. Well just so you know - when they did so they had 500 apps on there. When the GPTStore launched within 24 hours there were 3 million GPTS / apps. So many people started using them it crashed the whole system. And this is with Microsoft behind them!?
