"Anyone who thinks fallen leaves are dead has never watched them dancing on a windy day."?— Shira Tamir
With the autumn equinox (Latin for?equal night) we experienced a couple of weeks ago, summer ended, and fall officially began in the Northern Hemisphere, while spring came in the Southern Hemisphere. The nights are going to be longer than the daylight hours.
Autumn is a season of transformation. As the leaves begin their vibrant journey towards the ground, we witness nature's artistry in every step. It's as if the trees teach us a profound lesson - the beauty of letting go.
Letting Go, Like the Falling Leaves
Much like the trees, we, too, must learn to, effortlessly and without attachment, let go of what no longer serves us. Just as autumn leaves fall gracefully, creating space for new growth, we can release the burdens, beliefs, and habits that weigh us down. We can embrace change as an opportunity for inner transformation, a chance to shed our old selves and prepare for a new chapter in the cycle of life.
With the elimination of the haze that rises from the warm earth all summer, in autumn, even the sky looks different, with a deeper and more vibrant shade of blue. It's a canvas for the changing landscape, a backdrop to the fiery red, orange, and gold that paint the trees.
The ritual of replacing lighter clothes with warmer and cozier ones in your wardrobes and drawers gets scheduled. Seeing a piece of clothing you forgot about enlightens your day, making you feel like you have just bought it. It is brand new. Autumn's arrival brings a sense of nostalgia and comfort as we wrap ourselves in soft scarves and cozy sweaters.
Although for some, the arrival of autumn creates a slight feeling of melancholy, in reality, it is harvest time and deserves a celebration. These are productive and active times when we collect the rewards for the feverish work we have accomplished during spring and summer. It's a time to reap what we've sown in our gardens and lives. Most people feel depressed because the season turns into autumn with the promise of turning into winter soon enough. But every season has its pluses and minuses. They are all beautiful and deserve appreciation.
Celebrating the Season
Instead of seeing the move toward winter as a nuisance, embrace the beauty of autumn. Go for a walk in nature, examine the colors and shapes, and appreciate the fresh air while you step into a busier season that comes with its special surprises, social gatherings, and connections.
Autumn is about letting go of what no longer serves us, celebrating our achievements, and preparing for the cozy months ahead. It's a reminder that change can be beautiful. So, embrace the wind that carries the dancing leaves, the coolness in the air, and the anticipation of what's to come.
Remember: every season has unique wonders and lessons to offer, and every day, no matter what season we are in, is a gift to be cherished.
