Embracing Artificial Intelligence in Casino Operations: A Comprehensive Report
Kiran Brahmandam
We are on a mission to improve casino operations using AI → CEO at Gaming Analytics → San Francisco, CA
Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics, recently presented a detailed discussion on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the casino industry at the recent Canadian Gaming Summit. His presentation covered the immediate impact AI is having on casino operations, the barriers to adoption, and the critical role of leadership in this technological shift.
The Evolution of Decision-Making: From Oracles to AI
Historically, significant decisions were often made with the guidance of oracles, a practice observed across various ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, Mayans, and Chinese. In the modern era, AI has emerged as the new oracle, offering data-driven insights and predictions that guide business decisions with unprecedented accuracy and speed.
"In the New Age, AI is the new oracle. Whether you want to call it machine learning, artificial intelligence, GenAI, neural networks, call it whatever you want. AI is the piece of technology where you ask questions about your business and get quick answers." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
The Role of AI in Casino Operations
Brahmandam highlighted several key areas where AI revolutionizes casino operations:
1. Revenue Forecasting and Slot Recommendations:
AI predicts revenue with high accuracy, outperforming traditional methods used by CFOs. It also provides data-driven recommendations for slot machine placements, optimizing the gaming floor based on player preferences and behaviors.
"AI predicts revenue trends with high accuracy, closely matching actual financial outcomes. This capability allows casinos to make informed strategic decisions." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
2. Personalization and Player Development:
AI enables personalized marketing and player development strategies, ensuring that offers and communications are tailored to individual player profiles. This personalization significantly enhances player engagement and loyalty.
"Personalized marketing strategies informed by AI led to significant cost savings and revenue increases. For example, a mid-sized casino saved $2.4 million in marketing expenses while achieving a 6% increase in revenue." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
3. Operational Efficiency:
By automating routine tasks and providing instant data analysis, AI saves operators substantial time and resources. For instance, AI systems quickly identifies top players and generate detailed reports that would otherwise require extensive manual effort.
"We have seen operators save 16-23% of their time using AI technology, allowing them to focus more on strategic initiatives." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
Case Studies and Real-World Applications
1. Revenue Forecasting:
AI systems have shown to accurately predict revenue trends, closely matching actual financial outcomes. This capability allows casinos to make informed strategic decisions.

2. Slot Machine Optimization:
AI identified that 83% of casino floors have a volatility imbalance, where the risk profile of games does not align with player preferences. By addressing this imbalance, casinos saw an 8-10% increase in session theoretical win.
"By giving players similar games they like, whether from the same manufacturer or a different one, casinos are increasing their session theoretical win (Theo) by 8-10%." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
3. Marketing Efficiency:
Personalized marketing strategies, informed by AI, led to significant cost savings and revenue increases. For example, a mid-sized casino saved $2.4 million in marketing expenses while achieving a 6% increase in revenue.

4. Fraud Detection:
AI systems successfully identified and mitigated fraudulent activities, such as free play abuse, thereby protecting casino revenues and maintaining operational integrity.

Barriers to Adoption
Despite its potential, AI adoption in the casino industry faces several challenges:
1. Mindset and Organizational Culture:
A significant barrier is the mindset of employees and leaders. There is often resistance to change and a fear of job displacement. Effective leadership is essential to navigate these cultural challenges and foster an environment that embraces technological innovation.
"The number one problem we've seen is a mindset problem. It's not technology. There's often resistance to change and fear of job displacement." Kiran Brahmandam, CEO and Founder of Gaming Analytics
2. Data Silos:
Casinos often have data spread across numerous disconnected systems. Integrating these silos to create a unified data ecosystem is crucial for maximizing the benefits of AI.

3. Executive Buy-In:
Successful AI implementation requires strong support from top management. AI initiatives must be championed at the highest levels to ensure alignment with organizational goals and resource allocation.

The Future of AI in Casinos
Brahmandam emphasized that AI is not just a future technology; it is a present reality already delivering tangible benefits. He urged casino operators to view AI as a strategic imperative rather than a mere experiment. The industry is at a pivotal moment where embracing AI leads to significant competitive advantages.

About Kiran Brahmandam
With a vision to revolutionize the gaming industry with cutting-edge technology, I founded Gaming Analytics in 2017.
I was driven by the need to simplify information access — and decision-making — in an industry where both maybe incredibly difficult. My degree is in chemical engineering, but after arriving in the U.S. to pursue my Masters, I switched to computer science and never looked back.
My journey leading up to Gaming Analytics gave me the privilege of working on groundbreaking projects, from being part of the team that made the first-ever video call between a 2G phone and a laptop at Ericsson, to my first job in healthcare software at Express Scripts.
I worked for Ballys for 12 years before it was acquired by Scientific Games. After that, I started my own company called Kitiki, which was a B2C app aimed at connecting people in the physical world. However, I quickly realized that getting people’s attention with so many apps on an average phone was difficult. I learned a lot about machine learning and thought of applying those techniques in the gaming industry, which led me to start Gaming Analytics.
My focus on bringing user empathy to the B2B side of things has yielded fantastic results, and I’m committed to continuing to improve the operations of the gaming industry through technology and machine learning.
I incorporated the company on March 9th, 2017, and named it Gaming Analytics.

4 个月The only concern I see and that I’m having with ALL CRM’s is the PD piece. You have put, not intentionally or maliciously of course, but you have now placed marketing and digital tools infront of a group that has already lost thier connection and relationship with thier clients. CRMs are quickly becoming a crutch for casino hosts to send Mass messages via text and email. Which I don’t blame them because it’s so much easier and time efficient, however I HAVE SEEN the diminish of productivity due to them relying on these mass marketing channels. And soon, I can’t help but see how these “robots” will replace the casino hosts if they continue to lean on these digital efforts. I emplore CRM developers to insist on reiterating my message to PD leadeship that HOSTS SHOULD not use these, albeit fantastic, tools as a crutch for time management. I have already developed the formula for the most effective and efficient digital message. Thank you for allowing me to post and thanks for posting this information.
