Embracing Ai

Embracing Ai

Through a convergence of technological leaps and economic needs, AI has come to the forefront of business and industry. As it evolves, it becomes the entity that powers change. From being a healer to being a teacher, from being a visionary to being a protector, AI drives our everyday life. AI has been a part of our dreams in research labs for many decades. However, a few years ago, with the availability of higher computational resources, the explosion of AI took place. Human plus machine isn't the future; it's the present.

From mythology to science fiction, the conflict between AI and man has been portrayed as a matter of life and death. They can surpass us, and as the old Russian saying goes, "If you can't beat them, join them." When you can't compete with a computer, collaborate with it – having it on our side, combining the power of artificial intelligence with emotional intelligence, intuition with calculation, and experience with memory.

AI can outperform us in learning and can work 24x7. They can outsmart us in many aspects because we have endowed them with intelligence and trained them for specific tasks. But now, we must instill our values in them, define right from wrong, and help them understand our way of life and the importance of protecting life around us. We have transferred the contents of our brains to them; now, it's time to impart what's in our hearts.

Our technology excels at eliminating difficulties and uncertainties and performing tasks on our behalf. Thus, we must seek out even more challenging and uncertain endeavors. Garry Kasparov once said, "Machines have calculations. We have understanding. Machines have instructions. We have purpose. Machines have objectivity. We have passion." We shouldn't be concerned about what our machines can do today but rather what they can't do.

Super-intelligent agents are on the horizon, but we needn't fear them. Intelligence doesn't define us; our values do, as does our ability to discern between good and bad. We must decide what we prioritize more: values or wealth, life or death. Since we are and will continue to be the training sets for these machines, they learn from us. Thus, we must set a better example. The emergence of these super-intelligent agents or AI is inevitable. We can't delay the inevitable. Instead, let's welcome them with open arms and a clear mind. Our humanity isn't defined by any skill that AI possesses, so there's no need for concern.
