I've always believed that self-love isn't just about feeling good about oneself – it's the cornerstone of setting personal boundaries. This journey began for me when I realized that loving myself meant respecting my own needs and limits. It's like building a house; without a strong foundation, it can't stand firm. Self-love provides that foundation, enabling us to establish boundaries that honor our well-being and values. It’s not selfish to prioritize yourself; it's essential. This realization was a game changer for me, and it can be for you too.

I've witnessed and experienced the perils of ignoring one’s boundaries. It often leads to overpleasing and a neglect of personal needs. I remember times when I'd say yes when I desperately wanted to say no, just to avoid conflict or to be liked. This habit of self-neglect can take a toll on mental and emotional health. It's a cycle of giving too much and receiving too little, leaving one exhausted and unfulfilled. Acknowledging this was a painful but necessary step in my growth.
