Embrace the suck

Embrace the suck.
Regardless if you work for a company or run your own business, we ascribe to the belief that our clients should receive a 100%, otherwise we are selling them crap. And we don't want to sell crap to anyone.
Unfortunately, this puts us in an impossible situation. We can never guarantee that anything works right all the time. And so we either end up not selling or selling it but spending a lot of time worrying about it. This puts a lot of stress into our already stressful day. But what if this doesn't need to be?
The solution (for me) is to embrace the suck. I will directly tell clients that I can't deliver 100%. Why? Because it means that the onus is only on me to deliver and there is no skin-in-the-game for the client. It's like going to the gym and asking your trainer to do the reps for you :-)
So. Consider the possibility that the onus is also on the client to put in the effort. And if a client refuses to do so, you already know the outcome.
So embrace the suck because we aren't perfect. But together, we might cobble something together that looks good and even does the job well!
