Embrace the News - September 2022

Welcome to Embrace the News. With the end of the month approaching, it's time to reflect back on September.

September is a month that raises awareness for many conditions including Childhood Cancers, Gynecological Cancers and Alzheimer's Disease. As I work with many cancer patients, Susie and I focussed our Instagram Live on reducing our risk of Cancer. You can watch the full live here.

In this month's edition of Embrace the News, I cover:

  • Let's Talk About Incontinence
  • Cholesterol: It's not all bad
  • Is your Oestrogen too low?
  • Meet your Pituitary Gland
  • A reminder of our instructional video on Pelvic Floor Exercises

Is your Oestrogen too low?

Are you confused about oestrogen? This hormone has received a lot of bad press over the years. This is because it’s implicated in female cancers like breast, ovarian and uterine cancers. In fact, if you’ve suffered from breast cancer, you’ll often be prescribed a drug to block the action of oestrogen. But is oestrogen all bad? Read on to find out more.

Exercise your Pelvic Floor

The pelvic floor is a 'sling' of muscles that support the bladder, uterus (if you have one) and bowels. It's a really important muscle and like every muscle, it can become weak if not exercised. In this video, Lottie runs through 2 sets of exercises that you can implement in your daily life to strengthen your pelvic floor and increase your control. Watch the full video here.

I hope September and back to school weren't too hard on your immune systems! If any of these subjects interest you or have you thinking a bit more about your health,?please get in touch via the website?or messenger.

Absolutely loving this journey you're on! ?? As Steve Jobs once said, "Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work." Keep pursuing your passions and creating your legacy! ???

Thank you for all the information. My understanding is that the root cause to hundreds of medical conditions is oxidative stress. I found at the Pubmed.gov website 63 studies linking Oxidative stress to Incontinence, 5708 studies linking oxidative stress to high cholesterol, 516 studies linking oxidative stress to low estrogen and 165 studies linking oxidative stress to pituitary problems. Do you concur about oxidative stress? I did read once that cholesterol itself is not the problem. High cholesterol is due to an amino acid in the blood called Homocysteine. When the latter is in a normal range, the former flows through the arteries without a problem. However, when Homocysteine becomes excessive it acts as a corrosive on the arteries causing pits and ridges in the arteries where cholesterol will collect. This will block blood flowing through the arteries. It this your understanding?
