Embrace the News - April 2023
Welcome to the April edition of Embrace the News. I'd like to share some personal news that I announced this month in case you missed it. I recently undertook and completed Dr Nasha Winters's Metabolic Approach to Cancer Master Course through the?Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health.
Given my journey so far, this course was the next logical step for me in my professional development. I truly believe that by understanding the terrain of cancer, we can begin to work backwards. We start to understand the WHY and can work on harnessing the anticancer potential of nutrition and lifestyle to treat, manage, prevent and hopefully even reverse the impact. If you are a practitioner considering undertaking this course, I highly recommend it. By working together, and supporting each other, we can make the metabolic approach accessible around the world, changing the standards we see today in cancer which is the ultimate goal.
Now on to our regular news update. In this month's edition of Embrace the News I cover:
What’s the Link Between MS, Stress and Your Gut?
One of the most important factors regulating your immune system is your gut; more specifically, the collection of microbes in your gut known as your microbiome. This communication between your gut and your brain is called the gut/brain axis, and it works in both directions. Not only does your brain talk to your gut, causing butterflies in your stomach before an important event, but your gut talks to your brain, too. A complex system of nerves links the two. Read on to discover the effect of one aspect of mental health, stress, on MS and how your gut could connect the two.
What’s the Connection Between Food Allergies and IBS?
Almost one in three people in the UK report suffering from IBS, yet over half don’t seek professional help. Many people put up with their symptoms, or self-diagnose food allergies, ending up on a restrictive diet. This isn’t great for health as vital nutrients are often missed out on. It’s not good for well-being either as food is meant to be enjoyed, not a source of stress and worry.

9 Natural Ways to Reduce Your Blood Pressure
May is Measure Month, aiming to encourage everyone to have their blood pressure checked. There’s good reason for this because over 100 million lives are lost worldwide to high blood pressure. In fact, it’s the leading cause of preventable death. Yet estimates suggest half of all people with high blood pressure aren’t aware they have it.
