Embrace the Future
Entrepreneurship withstands over the very length of all time. When we look at the iconic entrepreneur figures of yesterday, one that often comes to mind is, Henry Ford. Ford is remembered for specifically for his automobile production and is associated with a very specific quote, "... to hell with the customer, who can have any color (car they want) as long as it's black." Most strong leaders have at least one signature characteristic they carry with them, as a legacy... for Ford, it was steadfastness. Leaders during his time were seen as captains of the ship. A captain would go down with the ship, protecting their point of view. this kind of leader is ego driven. In yester-years changing your mind was perceived as an unbearable weakness and was the kiss of death upon which the leader would lose respect. This leadership style may appear strong to some, but it usually comes with very negative consequences.?
?When we look at the leaders and entrepreneurs of today there are many that stand out. One that always hits the list is Bill Gates. Gates turned a multi-billion dollar organization around immediately and went flat out after the Internet. He was and remains more concerned with success than with what people might think of him. Gates is driven by the?future?and?opportunities, not by the past or his ego. Learning from the past has its value, but preserving it can waste energy. Worrying about looking good, being consistent, or keeping the status quo were yesterday's virtues, but?today that is the very kiss of death many leaders face. Successful leaders put their egos behind their missions, move forward with the times and aren't afraid to alter their positions as necessary. They Embrace the Future.?
