Embrace Equity Embrace Change

Embrace Equity Embrace Change

I have been thrilled with the #iwd2023 , I it has given me an #opportunity to think about and address what we women and men need to do with the key shifts we are seeing in society. For me embracing equity means really leveraging every opportunity that comes our way, This image struck me as while we seem to have understood the need for equity - and slowly systems and processes are being put in place to make things happen, like in the picture below - women do not seem to be getting on that bike!

We women need to embrace change as part of embracing equity because change is a necessary component of achieving gender equality. The current societal norms and #power #structures and #systems are heavily skewed towards men, and changing them requires an intentional effort to create a more equitable society. Women have been marginalized and excluded from many aspects of life, including leadership positions, equal pay, and access to education, healthcare, and other resources.

Embracing change means recognizing and challenging the status quo and actively working towards gender equity.

Women need to be willing to

  1. Take risks
  2. Challenge existing norms and stereotypes
  3. Support other women in their endeavors
  4. Be open to new ideas and approaches
  5. Embrace opportunities for growth and development and success

Men can help women embrace change and achieve equity in several ways.

  1. They can educate themselves about the challenges that women face and the systemic barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential
  2. They can also be allies by actively challenging and dismantling gender biases and stereotypes
  3. They can advocate for women's rights
  4. They can support women in leadership positions
  5. They can also amplify women's voices and promote their visibility by sharing their work, accomplishments, and perspectives

In conclusion, embracing #change is a critical component of achieving gender equity, and both #men and #women have a role to play in this process. Women must be willing to take risks and challenge existing norms, and men can support them by actively advocating for gender equity and amplifying women's voices.
