Celebrating a Ruckus Maker
Two things stand out when you look at Angelo Venditti 's LinkedIn profile.?First, his background photo says,
On a mission to make nursing better for future generations. ?
Second, his headline says,
Solving healthcare's largest problems through strategy, leadership, and innovation.
?Angelo is the best type of Ruckus Maker: Positive, proactive, innovative, and collaborative!
?
Though I have not had the privilege of meeting Angelo - yet, I follow his posts and will share an example of the value he provides for thought leadership and celebrating what is RIGHT in healthcare.?Yes… many things need to change, but many are doing outstanding work daily.?I am grateful to Angelo for recognizing and celebrating this.
?I have had the opportunity to meet Angelo's wife, Denise Venditti DNP, MHA, RN, FACHE, CPXP, LSSBB .?We had a delightful conversation this past May at the CX Exchange in Healthcare conference.?I was highly impressed and recommend you follow her as well!

The posts shared in this first section call out the need for transformation.
J. Michael Connors MD shared Jennifer Glowatch Uscanga 's heartbreaking post. AI and other technology may add value to healthcare, but before we divert time and attention in that direction, can we get the basics of care in place?
Celebrating John A. Marzano for calling out the critical need to act and protect our healthcare teams from escalating violence. Appreciate the efforts of Zach Smith, BSN, RN to elevate this issue and bring voices together.

Zach Smith, BSN, RN is raising other concerns for our nurses in the current healthcare system.
Heathcare policy issues - specifically with the 340B drug discounts - were shared by Alex Kacik . Thank you, Peter Hayes , for sharing this post with your comment, bringing this to my attention.
Profiting - excessively - when others are struggling and in need? Profiting when our nurses and physicians are exhausted and in need of support? This is not right.
Thank you for sharing this article, Rebecca Love RN, MSN, FIEL . The contributory comments from many, such as Tom Burns BSN RN and .Jose M Maria FNP-BC, RN emphasize the problems.

I live in a rural community and am grateful for our small hospital and supporting clinic for the access to medical care. I also recognize that without access to medical services, many of our retirees and other fulltime residents would likely not remain and our economy would decline. Thank you for shining a light on this issue Preston Alexander . Appreciate your contribution to the conversation Kathryn Preston and Doug Pohl .
Fee-for-service rewards both high-integrity physicians and those prioritizing money, power, and prestige. Thought there are more ethical physicians than 'Bad Apple's,' just a few can ruin the barrel. This explanation by Eric Bricker, MD is well worth watching.
I'm with you Doug Pohl - healthcare needs a revolution! One that isn't an us vs. them, but all of us, together.
Celebrating your shared 'what I don't want,' 'what I do want,' and 'responsibilities I'll shoulder,' Brad Arner . Grateful for your willingness to 'happy arm the insurgency!'
I also have just recently learned of Eric Reinhart and his work, Beth A. Brooks, PhD, RN, FACHE . Glad you shared this post and an example of his work.

I'm still giggling about 'CVS HELL-th,' though not about what CVS is doing. Thanks for sharing his article, Luke Slindee, Pharm.D. and Corey Amann, MD, MBA .

And Carrie Liken (elevated to my awareness by Jared Johnson ) shared a reason to pause and consider - with gratitude - what the addition of CVS, Walmart and others could positively contribute to healthcare.

Sondra Brown further contributes to the consideration of the positive contribution health disruptors can bring. In the article she offers,
Instead of perceiving disruptors as threats, healthcare systems can strategically collaborate or even integrate elements of their disruptive models. By doing so, healthcare systems can enhance their own offerings, optimize patient experiences, and foster a spirit of continuous improvement.
I cheered Samuel Seering 's comment!

Always learn something new when you listen to Zain Syed, PharmD 's podcast. Doug Pohl 's question/comment contributed to further insights.
Have you been following what Patients for Patient Safety US are doing? They are making a good ruckus! I look forward to the release of Tim McDonald 's TEDx talk.
Thank you Soojin Jun, PharmD, BCGP, CPPS?? for sharing Karen Feinstein 's TEDx talk while we wait. What a great talk!

Appreciate contributory ideas from all, such as Jared Johnson , who are partnering to help improve our healthcare system. Samuel Seering 's comment was a great add to this conversation.
Yes, Amy Story !
Meaningful connection is at the heart of healthcare
Irith Lebovich, MD and Karen Smith added greatly with their comments.
Leading the way with generous gifts of knowledge and heart, thank you Tom Dahlborg ?? The Circle Process and others, such as Relationship Based Culture ( Gen G. and Mary Koloroutis ), offer solutions to some of our foundational healthcare system problems. Now... how do we spread awareness further? With leaders such as Mike Harbour championing these solutions!
Michael Mantell, Ph.D. , I so appreciated this post when it came up in my feed. With this change we want to make in healthcare, our mindset matters. Negative and 'us against them' is not productive.
Embrace positivity, envision success, and believe in your dreams. Trust in yourself, take action, and watch as your thoughts lead you towards the path of greatness.
That's the way forward!
Yes, Irith Lebovich, MD - emotions are contagious. And the message from Michael above aligns well with yours and Tom Dahlborg 's. Positive mindset, reaching our hands out to help others, and celebrating the efforts of all. The comments from others, such as J. Michael Connors MD tell me many feel the same.
This is the way forward!

Disrupting healthcare by flipping the script on leadership. I like it, Lonnie Hirsch !
And to flip the script as Lonnie suggested above, we need those who have learned how to do so to model the way for others to follow. Thank you Shawn Nason for this post that came across my feed just after reading Lonnie's!
Thank you, Greta Rosler for asking the question and then sharing the results. Administrative tasks get in the way of the most important work for our leaders, the connection with their teams and patients.
Angelo Venditti 's post contributed to what Greta shared above, though suggests that the time spent on administrative tasks is even higher. Appreciate the addition of potential solutions.
Oh, Cody Wales , automating our processes sometimes fail to enhance experience. Sigh...
The Beryl Institute and Jason A. Wolf, Ph.D., CPXP shared the most recent 'The State of Human Experience' report this past week. I read it in detail... and making a bit of a ruckus. Thank you Roseanna Galindo, CCBA, CAVS ?? and Ashley Conger for supporting questions.
Love this list, Swati Mehta MD, FACP, SFHM, CPXP ! And the additions from Brian Carlson are great. Do those two make this S.T.E.L.L.A.R.OV.GA? Hmmm... I'll have to play with that further ??
Thomas W. - So much in this article, it took me a few days to read as I was reflecting on many of your key statements. I appreciated Lonnie Hirsch 's comment that high-lighted key elements, and encourage others to read the full article when you have a bit of time.

1 年I generally pour myself a good cup of coffee and take the time to read every post and comment in this amazing publication that you treat us to twice a month. This time around, I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and have no choice but to leave the reading for when I come back. But in the meantime, I wanted to say this. I’ve been reading your posts for months. And I am also lucky to have had the chance to speak to you in person. They say that there are mavens, salesmen, and connectors. And one thing for sure, Denise, you are a master connector with a gift for bringing together people with different roles, experiences, and views. This is exactly what we need in healthcare. Thank you for generously taking on this role. It seems to be a perfectly natural fit.
