Challenges are good. They appear to make us better.
Now, that’s a well conceived idea before the challenge(s) arrives. When challenges do arrive, they tend to make us feel intimidated. The feeling of embracing the challenge sometimes goes right out the door.
When we think people are watching there is even more pressure to persevere. That is because we don’t want other people to see us as a failure. This idea usually occurs in our minds. For all we know they could be thinking about what they’re going to eat today, if there is a rock in their shoe, or whether or not they took their vitamins.
What other people think shouldn’t deter you from living your best life because honestly, no two lives are the same.
What does matter is how each one of us perceive the challenges - whether you take to the challenge or let the challenge take you.
“Discomfort brings engagement and change. Discomfort means you’re doing something others are unlikely to do, because they’re hiding out in the comfortable zone.” — Seth Godin
When you are challenged, you are asked to become more than you were before – acquiring new perspectives, new skills, and pushing boundaries. In other words, increasing your understanding to overcome the obstacles facing you.
The good news is, whatever you are feeling discomfort about, there is someone else out there who has felt the same thing as you. Sometimes just knowing that you are not alone in discomfort can make us feel more comfortable in pushing beyond.
Your personal growth is reflected upon new challenges and activities.
The mind has a way of rising to the occasion. Challenge it, and it will reward you.
