Embrace the adventure

Dear Business Partners,?

Can you believe it’s already November? What a year, especially for our country and its people. There’s been so much positivity around our new Government of National Unity and with the Reserve Bank looking set to cut interest rates again this month (here’s hoping for at least 0.5%), 2024 certainly feels like it’s ending on a good note – which bodes well for 2025! 2024 has also brought its fair share of sporting successes – we only have to think of the Springboks, Dricus du Plessis, and Tatjana Smith – which has made sports fans like myself very happy!

Speaking of sports, I attended the Private Property PrisonBreak Triathlon in Worcester at the beginning of October as part of a BetterHome Group team-building weekend. What a fantastic event! While I opted to attend as a MortgageMax supporter this time around, seeing our team members swimming, cycling and running their way through the course (most of them in their first-ever triathlon) really inspired me to give it a go next year. It also got me thinking about doing new things – and why it’s so important that we do.

We all have our comfort zones (which probably had something to do with why I didn’t take part in this year’s triathlon), but there’s so much to be gained by stepping out of them. For one thing, trying new things is important for our personal growth – and being the best version of ourselves is definitely worth striving for. Attempting new things ensures that we maintain a growth mindset, which keeps us informed and relevant, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of our industry. It also builds resilience, encourages us to be courageous, and keeps us humble because we’re not always going to succeed at everything we do right off the bat. But, when we do master new things, it’s an incredible boost to our self-confidence because it reminds us that we are capable of doing so much more than we think. The other thing to remember is that when we try things we’ve never done before, we very often discover new activities that not only energise us, but also bring us joy. And who doesn’t want more of that?

So, as we approach the end of another year, let’s?embrace the adventure of pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones and seeing what more we can achieve in life! And instead of waiting until January 2025 to set New Year’s resolutions (which most of us have given up on by April), why not commit to trying new things – starting today.

On that positive note, let’s give November our all and make it the month in 2024 to remember!

Warm regards,

Jors van Niekerk
