Embarrassing Moments

Do you remember your most embarrassing moment?

I was in college and a group of us guys went to the Buntyn Cafe for lunch. At the time it was a Memphis landmark on Southern Ave. and we made a point of going on days they served fried chicken and blackberry cobbler.

It was always packed, there was always a wait and so it wasn’t unusual to wait outside for a few minutes.

I noticed a group of college girls inside the restaurant who kept smiling at me. I smiled back, believing that they were lucky to find a young man of my stature and maybe I could squirrel a date out of the experience. :)

Suddenly as I watched them all smiling at me, I also noticed my reflection in the window. It was at that moment I noticed my fly was open. They weren’t smiling to gain my attention. They were laughing at my stupidity.

How embarrassing. All of us can recall embarrassing moments when we didn’t represent what we thought we were presenting. I’m just glad now that I am a part of a group of people who accept me just the way I am.
