An email would do!

Like a majority of us would admit, looking for a new job can be such a daunting task. You spend several weeks or even months on the look out for something that catches your eye and then you spend days crafting a resume to match the position.
A few times you get an email with the title " Regret" and you immediately send it to trash. Many are the times you do not hear back from the Company or it happens after so long that you do not even remember applying for the Position.
But once in a while you actually get called back by an enthusiastic HR personnel inviting you for an interview. You then start preparing for the interview and even go online to carry out tons of research as you do not even recall what Company XYZ does in the first place.
Then the wait begins all over again. The much dreaded " we shall contact you in a week". Before you realize it is Sunday morning and you start checking your email ever few minutes. Within a blink of an eye a month turns into two and then six and still no feedback from the Company.
This is what puzzles me, why is it so difficult to get back to a Candidate with the outcome of the interview? Candidates spend an enormous amount of time preparing for interviews and common courtesy dictates that the least you can do is revert with the interview or outcome. Nobody expects a phone call, an email would do.
