How many times have you heard that argument over the last 7-10 years? You have supposed 'Gurus' who tell you that email marketing is dead and you should only be using their new revolutionary software to build a list, but they sent you an email to tell you about it. LOL.

Email is still a powerful tool to use to build authority and let's explore why in this article.

1. You have control of your email list. At any moment the following you have built on social media can be taken away from you and once it happens it is unlikely you will ever get it back. 2. You can use your email to build relationship with your reader quickly. The written word is powerful and when used properly in an email, draws the reader to you. Not only can you share your expertise but you can share you heart and let them see inside of you. You can create the know, like and trust factor without ever speaking a single word to them.
3. You can share a tremendous amount of value in an email. It is amazing how much you can convey and teach in a few hundred words and the impact it can have on other's lives.
4. Finally, email is great way to promote what you are doing and give others a chance to join in with you. My only caution is make your promotional emails valuable in and of themselves and clicking the link you provide is only an extension of that. If all your emails say is buy my stuff, the readers will quickly unsubscribe.
