ELVIAL S.A. AND PRESEZZI EXTRUSION WRITE A NEW CHAPTER OF A LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP

The Greek metal production market is in turmoil:

• From 2015 to 2019, sectoral sales have increased by around 27.5%1. For that period the spike in sales can be attributed to a stronger sectoral export activity that increased 3.5%2 and infrastructure investment of approximately Euro 12.5 billion
• Within the next decade, planned large-scale projects worth more than Euro 21.5 billion will boost sectoral sales. However, large-scale projects could also cause sudden spikes in local demand that would test the production and transportation capacity of the sub-segment

Within this dynamic context, ELVIAL S.A. operates, which is one of the largest and most well-known aluminum extrusion industries in Greece. ELVIAL S.A. was established in 1990 and ever since has achieved continuous improvement and excellence in the field of aluminum extrusion. It produces integrated aluminum systems in a fully vertically integrated production line. In 2005 trans-located its facilities in the area of Agios Panteleimon in a brand new and sophisticated factory. At that time the Company started its co-operation with Presezzi Extrusion, manufacturing new state of the art presses. The relationship between the two companies strengthened under the establishment of mutual trust, which resulted in the decision to manufacture the fourth and last press in 2021.

Presezzi Extrusion Group was awarded the prestigious contract to supply a 28 MN front-loading extrusion press 8” complete with log heating & cutting area in the third quarter of 2020 with the objective of installing state-of-the-art equipment.

Greek metal manufacturers are committed to investing strategically in the local and global goal of sustainable development. They have increased their focus on ESG initiatives (green agenda, sustainability code, etc.), contributing to Greece being the European Union (EU) member country with the most significant annual drop in carbon emissions in 2020. So the Presezzi Extrusion equipment has been engineered with the target of reducing operating expenditure, in terms of energy savings and maintenance. In this sense, electrical driven movements, substituting for oil hydraulic drives, are applied wherever convenient and possible, with the target to generate the following value for the Elvial S.A.:

Even during this challenging pandemic context, Presezzi Extrusion maintained its promises and commitment to Elvial S.A.: leveraging all of its experience, Presezzi Extrusion design and project management team followed a framework based on continuous communication, coordination, and engineering techniques to increase efficiency during the whole project phase. Hot start-up and first extrusion were achieved successfully in February 2022 following an extensive period of cold and hot commissioning, and thanks to the quality and reliability of Presezzi Extrusion and COIM equipment and technological packages, in synergy with the experience and knowledge of Elvial S.A. operating and maintenance teams, the equipment was worked-up to full productivity in early March 2022, reaching the final acceptance with full satisfaction of Elvial S.A. in April 2022.
