?? "Elon, there's the door", says Elon: You Probably Heard About #01 [I'm No Economist]

Welcome to the first edition of “You Probably Heard About” by I'm No Economist ??

I'm No Economist is a newsletter about global investment trends. It started as a learning project, to keep me up to date with what is happening in the financial markets.?

It's not my first newsletter project, but the one I put the most effort in.

Concurrently, there are other stealth writing projects that I’m working on, but this is the only one I do by myself - so a lot more energy has to be poured into it.

I was lucky to find a niche audience of M&A, family office, tech, private equity, and venture capital professionals that read I'm No Economist deep dives.

But I feel like I owe you more frequency, as the usual content posted so far is so timely and things move so fast.

So for the past few weeks, I've been working on a weekly edition to give this audience more relevant content to navigate the markets.?

This won't have any kind of financial advice of course - but more like a tiny piece of initial research to kick off different interests. Remember to take no advice from me, I'm No Economist.

That's how You Probably Heard About was born.?

It will be sent out every Friday by the end of the day and for now will consist of a summary of big numbers, what happened during the week in finance and tech, and what's important to keep on the radar.

?? Important: These sections can change. And they will depend on the audience's preference. I'm open-sourcing it to the audience with polls by the end of each section so I can iterate for the next edition - if I want to, after all, it's my newsletter.

The point is that with higher frequency, I'll learn and iterate faster and can more efficiently give back to the audience, and be more relevant to you.

Hope you enjoy this first one!

?? Numbers Don't Lie

U.S. Inflation ????

If you're preparing for a soft landing, I think you're going to be disappointed. In the U.S. CPI came below the last 12 months’ expectations (4.9% actual vs 5% expectation). However, among all categories, almost all Food items are above the total CPI average. Food hits all income levels but is harder on the lower and middle household income ranges. These numbers matched with my man J. Pow giving signals of pausing interest rate increases are the perfect storm for the next inflation wave - that historically comes harder than the last.
