Elon Musk and Logistics Identity

In April 2022, Elon Musk bought Twitter. You may ask why I started this very first post of the newsletter with information about Elon Musk. Isn't he going to Mars, and he's not too involved in Logistics? Your concerns have strong roots, and besides the fact that Twitter is one of the most influential media where all of the politicians and presidents share their thoughts, there is one more fact that worries me a lot.?

"I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spambots, and authenticating all humans. "?

Did you catch it? "authenticating all humans"!?

You might argue that it's needed because there is so much fake news and trolls working for foreign powers, and it's more complicated than ever to find out if we are reading a real thing from a natural person.?

I agree but...

Yeah, there is a "but" I don't like to use this word, and most often, I don't, but there are a lot of "buts" around "authenticating all humans".

So the first one would be obvious what he meant by saying so. You can see those blue icons next to the account name on Twitter that represents verified accounts. Is it what he meant?

What about all the real users who just want to keep their privacy and use nicknames instead of names and surnames?

Let's get to the point. What is our identity??

I can say, "I am Sebastian Wrobel," and that's my identity; it's true, isn't it? (let's assume I am telling the truth to make it easier ;) )?

It is true, but it's not the whole picture.?

Does it really matter that my name is Sebastian and my surname is Wrobel??

It depends; if I need to settle my annual tax, it does matter a lot.?

Does it matter when I play video games? I would say "no."

Does it matter when I am writing this post? Given the world nowadays, it might be necessary because our reputation is most often connected to our official names and surnames.?

Is it the same identity as playing video games, doing daily work, being a Friend, Wife/Husband or even a Parent at the school meeting?

Well, yes and no, I am myself, right?

Yes, but (it seems I need to use "but" much more often than I wanted in this text ;) ), so yes, but in many cases, we don't want our various identities to be mixed with each other.?

According to Wikipedia, there are six major types of identities?

I could name at least a few more such as "creators identity", and "gaming identity", due to technological advancement, IMHO we live in the most dynamic environment, and there are certainly more to come.

So, what does it mean "authenticate all humans"??

Is it putting name and surname behind all the accounts? Or maybe it is about connecting the reputation with the accounts?

What do you think? What is it, and what is needed in your opinion?

My train is arriving and I need to go now but (again ;) ) there will be more to come :)

I’d emphasize this part instead “…to increase trust”. I may be optimistic here, however I trust that what he is trying to achieve is in fact - making Twitter a better tool than it’s as of now. We can all identify and name all the threats we are facing in the social media (to be generic here) - fake news, hate speech, bullying and more. Authenticating user in social media (such as Twitter in this case) might result in decreasing the number of such events - perhaps it’s on his agenda as well (provided that there are clear intentions in all of this).
