Elon Musk is Fundamentally Wrong about AI
Elon Musk was just is an incredibly smart guy, and I've got nothing but admiration for him. However, when it comes to AI he is fundamentally wrong. In a long list of ridiculous claims, his most recent was the claim that "AI will become bored with talking with humans unless we increase the bandwidth" (read; Install Neuralink)
There are many good reasons why we'd need something like Neuralink. People with disabilities being one. But being afraid of that the AI will become "bored" is an argument that's a child's argument.
Being bored is a human emotion. Human emotions originates from our limbic system and are completely disconnected from our IQ our abilities to think rationally. In fact, you could have a trillion in IQ without even having the capacity to become bored. Anthropomorphising AI and attaching human emotions to it is literally the equivalent of stating "my car is unhappy".
My car consists of wiring, electrical signals, a combustion engine, a gear box, etc. Regardless of how much I make my car resemble a human being, it cannot "feel". AI systems are similar in nature, they're simply wiring, and have zero capacity for "feeling". Believing wiring can become bored is the same exercise your child is doing as he or she is attributing human qualities to his or her Teddy bear.

Limbic systems
All of our emotions originates from our limbic system. Our limbic system is what determines if we're angry, happy, stressed or bored. Our limbic system is the physical seat of what the ancient Greeks referred to as "spirit". It's what makes us human, with negative traits such as jealousy and anger. But it's also the source of our happiness and ability to feel loved. Without a limbic system you're arguably nothing but electrical wiring.
Artificial Intelligence does not have a limbic system. In fact it's nothing but a complex bunch of wiring. Just like the wires you've got laying around in your garage cannot become "bored", no AI in its current state can become "bored".
Conclusion
I like Elon Musk. He is obviously a smart guy. But attributing human emotions to artificial intelligence is a child's game. When a child plays with dolls the child will anthropomorphise its toys. This is a natural way to learn and understand the world. However, Elon Musk is quite frankly too old to play with dolls.
My car is a bunch of wiring. My car doesn't care if I chop it up into pieces or burn it to the ground. The same way my car does not have a limbic system, the AI does not have a limbic system. The AI doesn't give a sjiit about you. It doesn't feel angry, it doesn't fell happy. It doesn't care if you turn it off, and it certainly does not feel "bored" ...
