Culture in Action

Danielle Newton - Senior Director of Learning & Communications

Culture in Action: Danielle Newton, Senior Director of Learning & Communications

In another life, Danielle Newton might be the ultimate English major: She hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from CSU, Sacramento, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Bennington College. She is also Prosci certified in change management, which she is delighted to say requires its own best practice approach to strategic writing. Danielle’s 15+ years of experience includes leadership roles in organizational effectiveness, training, and communication at Sutter Health and UC Davis Health, and faculty roles at CSU, Sacramento and CSU, East Bay, where she has taught technical writing, grant writing, and public relations writing.

Danielle will tell you that every client success story begins with and is sustained by positive, productive, and meaningful connections with clients and coworkers, and connections are the hallmarks of Danielle’s approach to her work, which emphasizes the value of transparency, trust, and a lot of laughter together along the way. It’s all about the people. After all, at Ellit Groups we believe training, change, and communication spaces are where we dig deeper and go bolder to help employees successfully adopt and use new technologies, new processes, and new tools. Yes, it’s the people.

Danielle will also tell you that there are specific, tangible ingredients to supporting a people-first focus. Ready to lead training for an Epic implementation? Want to impact change processes across your multi-site healthcare system? Is your passion crafting the ‘story’ of your organization’s process improvement efforts? Danielle highlights the value of SMART objectives as your true north, and she stresses identifying quantifiable, realistic, timely, and relevant goals at the outset of each effort. She also underscores how important clear goals are for effective planning, setting objectives, and arriving at well-informed conclusions in order to create an effective training program or change journey or strategic communication plan. Your people – those vital connections – depend on you to know your true north, so take the time to develop the pulse that propels your work to best-in-class results!

With a people first approach to training, change, and communication leadership, Danielle reflects the mission of Ellit Groups, where people are at the heart of all we do, every day. We are proud to have Danielle on our team – the tools, resources, attention to relationships, and the leadership she delivers on behalf of our clients foster a culture of achievement, reinforce the concepts of high employee performance, and prioritize practical, day-to-day engagement strategies so healthcare organizations and their employees do more than succeed in the moment: They thrive over time, so that their patients can thrive all the time. That’s the Ellit Groups way!

It’s Always All About the People: Envision, Invest, Engage

What does it take to be a successful change leader for an Epic implementation? Change management is not easy work, but it is meaningful work on behalf of those counting on their leaders. The most successful change leaders possess the imagination to envision how to best use critical project information to support their impacted staff; the heart to invest time and attention to ensure best change results, one step at a time; and the courage to take measurable actions to engage staff early and often as contributors to their own change success.

Ellit Groups is currently working with a client organization to help imbed and grow a change management program that puts the Prosci ADKAR principles to real use with real tools and resources that will create the cultural touchstones of long-term change success. We are proud to work with a healthcare organization committed to equipping people managers with the soft and technical skills, change agility, and strategic content necessary to successfully lead their staff through this enormous change and to champion the Epic implementation from start to completion. Kudos to our fearless change leaders!

Tim Mecalis - VP of Solution Delivery

“I spent 17 years serving the country in the United States Air Force and wanted to continue a service-based career after the military. Healthcare technology provided a path for me to continue to serve local communities while also impacting healthcare professionals worldwide by sharing current trends and collaborating on solutions through technology innovations.

My "why" is driven by a desire to contribute to the well-being and health of individuals and communities, and to be part of a profession that embodies compassion, empathy, and service to others.”
