Today, we hear from Ellis Maria Aguillar, Production Operator at the Brazil IC Packaging Production for Smart Modular Technologies. Ellis shares her inspiration, perspectives and encouragements for the Black Community below.
Why is it important to celebrate black history month??
It is important to rescue the historical facts, keeping the collective memory about the liberation of the slaves for humanity to be aware of the atrocity of this historical fact and to never let it happen again.
How does SGH practice diversity and inclusion?
SGH practices diversity and inclusion of race, religion and other historically minority groups. Equal treatment is given to all employees.
What resources would you recommend to someone looking to learn more about Black history?
History study.
In celebrating Black history and culture, who or what is your biggest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration in black history and culture is my father, Jo?o Luis Aguillar.
What message do you have for young black men and women looking to grow into positions of leadership in their schools, workplaces and communities?
Don't give up on studying hard, working and conquering your spaces.
Why do you think the theme for Black History Month 2023, “Black Resistance” is relevant for today’s climate?
Black Resistance is relevant to reducing targeted violence and discrimination.
What is a moment in Black history that you wish more people knew about?
The fight for the liberation of slavery in Brazil.
