The Elixir of Leadership

Everybody wants to be a leader, everybody wants to lead,

Little do they realize for that, followers they do need.

Leadership courses, leadership coaches and books galore,

Have sprouted up prolifically, this need to satisfy more.

Habits, choices, skills and mannerisms of leaders people do seek out,

Imbibing the same, in the hope that leaders someday, they'll turnout.

"How to become a leader" has become a business that is selling,

To all those in desperation, a leader to become, are very willing.

"Leaders are born, leaders are not made" has become an old adage,

Ever-since popularization of leadership, has come to the front page.

Positions of workmen, toilers & blue collars have taken the battering,

These job roles not being recognized as something that is flattering.

It is about being the boss that is attracting many to this leadership line,

Not wanting to get their hands dirty in work with the muck, sweat and grime.

The execution of tasks that are considered to be menial and non-aesthetic,

Left to "others" who would perform, work hard and to their rule be domestic.

Leader wannabe, like lead singer in the band, where everyone wants to croon,

However, without the drums and rhythm guitar, their song would have no tune.

Is like reading about strategies of war and going into battle without armies.

Visibly we know that leadership is, heading the team in front, sitting your horse astride,

Behind the scenes, it is taking care of your team and helping them move forward in stride.

True essence of leadership you would have evinced, that people would respect and believe.
