Eliminate Social Anxiety With This Hollywood Secret

Eliminate Social Anxiety With This Hollywood Secret

Want to hear me riff on today's topic and other random things that cross my mind in the moment? Sure-why the hell not. You can watch today's video HERE

.........

We all get uncomfortable at social or business networking events when we don’t know anyone. I think I have pretty well developed social skills-but truth be told....even I get a bit anxious in those situations.???

Anyway, the important thing is that if networking events aren’t your ideal place to be, rather than blow them off…I’ve got an easy solution that works well for me…has worked well for my clients…and I think it will work well for you too.

I got this idea from my Hollywood friend ?? Sven Larsongard. No he isn’t a movie or TV star, but that’s who he hangs out with most days. He’s an agent with the Hollywood mega-talent agency Creative Artists Agency, and he shared with me how the top agents go about networking.

???“First and foremost, try not to go by yourself. There’s strength in numbers. If you’re with another person, you’ll have a lot more confidence going up to someone you don’t know and striking up a conversation. Plus, once the conversation comes to a natural end, you’re not standing there all alone like some doofus.”???

I dragged my wife Marian to a networking event a while back to see if this worked.

I was surprised that the experience really was a lot more pleasant when we used this tag team approach. The only downside was that Marian is a Clinical Hypnotherapist so people were a lot more interested in learning about what she did than talking with me.?That said, I really should be used to that reaction by now.

Here’s another idea…

???If you’re uncomfortable approaching groups of people, another option is to position yourself in a location that people are headed toward.???

I learned this trick back in high school as a way to deal with my discomfort socializing at parties. I would perch myself next to the refrigerator or wherever the beer was kept. A variation on this technique works just as well today. Just stand by the food or the bar.?

Simply standing in line enables you to strike up a conversation with the person either behind or in front of you.?A wealth management client of mine swears by the effectiveness of this method.?He’ll stand in line for a drink, strike up some conversations, and then go to the end of the line and repeat the exercise.?

Look, we all sometimes feel socially awkward, but the good news is that there are a lot of tricks we can use to make the experiences much more pleasant.

?? I discuss these in more detail in Chapter 3 of my book? The Affluent Marketing Blueprint ??(you didn’t really think I’d let you go without trying to sell you something did you?)??

I’m running a promotion where you can get a copy of the book for next to nothing by going?HERE .

However if you’d like to give more money to Amazon (or you like audio books) then head over?THERE .

The important thing is that you get the book!?Trust me.

If you’re focused on selling to the affluent (and why in the world would you want to sell to poor people)…you’ll find it valuable.

Thanks

Mark

So how does one find social events to practice these skills? I’ve been eager to network but can’t seem to locate any in my area??
