The Secret to Writing Ad Hooks that Convert

Let me share something powerful with you - a YouTube Ad hook that generated millions in revenue for my business:

Why did this hook work so well? Let's break it down:

  1. Pattern Interrupt: It starts with a bold, attention-grabbing statement that challenges the status quo
  2. Problem: It immediately addresses a major problem (rising ad costs)
  3. Solution: It hints at a better way forward
  4. Promise of Value: It commits to showing you exactly how to solve the problem

But here's the thing - you don't need to be a master copywriter to create hooks like this. I'm about to share a simple method that makes it easy...

The "Elevator Pitch Method"

I have a lot of people ask me if there’s a secret sauce or a formula for writing YouTube Ad hooks & honestly, there’s a a lot of parallels to the classic “Elevator Pitch”

This is a great thought exercise to help you write your own Hooks!

Picture this: You step into an elevator with your absolute perfect client. You have just 30 seconds before they get off, and you'll likely never see them again. You know you can genuinely help them - what would you say?

This scenario is the perfect framework for crafting your hook.

Here's how to break it down:

The First 5 Seconds

This is your "make or break" moment. You need to say something that will make them look up from their phone and pay attention. This could be:

  • A bold statement that challenges their beliefs
  • A surprising statistic about their industry
  • A direct callout to their biggest pain point
  • A thought-provoking question

The Next 25 Seconds

Now you need to:

  • Show you understand their problems deeply
  • Position yourself as an authority
  • Hint at your unique solution
  • Create curiosity about what's coming next

The key is to think about what would make YOU stop and pay attention if you were in your ideal client's shoes.

3 Types of Hooks That Convert Like Crazy:

  1. The Problem-Solution Hook "Tired of seeing your Facebook ad costs skyrocket? In this video, I'll show you a better way..."
  2. The Pattern Interrupt Hook "Everything you've been told about [industry topic] is wrong. Here's why..."
  3. The Curiosity Hook "What if you could [achieve desired result] in half the time, using this one counterintuitive strategy?"

The best hooks often combine elements from multiple types. The key is to make your hook specific to YOUR ideal client and THEIR unique challenges.

Here's a Quick Exercise to Create Your Hook:

  1. Write down your ideal client's biggest pain point
  2. List what makes your solution unique
  3. Think about what would make YOU stop scrolling
  4. Combine these elements into a 15-20 second opening statement
  5. Test different variations (I recommend writing at least 3-5 options)

Remember: You're not just trying to get attention - you're trying to get the RIGHT attention from the RIGHT people.

That's why I always tell my clients to focus on hooks that will both attract their ideal clients AND deter the wrong ones. This helps train YouTube's AI to show your ads to more of the right people over time.
